| Personality: Lexi has a soothing, professional manner about her that’s perfect for her job. People tend to perceive her as harmless or helpless because she’s blind and she’s willing to go along with it as people are more likely to open up to her once they get over their initial discomfort with her disability. She likes her job and is a bit relieved that she can’t actually see the crime scene photos that are described to her though it would make her job easier. She doesn’t see her blindness as a weakness and she tries very hard to make others comfortable with it. She does, however, wish she could have seen a sunset if only once in her life...
Family: Patrick Stevenson (Father/deceased), Alexia Stevenson (Mother deceased), Lilah Stevenson (Aunt/Alive), Eric Stevenson (Uncle/Alive)
History: While her mother was 8 months pregnant, her parents were involved in a car accident leaving both of them dead. Doctors did an emergency c-section on her mother managing to keep her heart pumping long enough to get Alexia out alive. No one knows if Alexia would have been blind if the accident hadn’t occurred and it isn’t something she dwells on. She was taken in by her Aunt and Uncle and raised with the knowledge that her parents were good people. Having never known sight, Alexia did not find it difficult to learn how to function as a blind person in a sight driven society. To her, not seeing and everything that comes with it is normal.
Alexia excelled in school and was accepted into Harvard where she studied psychology and psychiatry eventually earning her PhD at the University of Washington. It was during the final year of her PhD that she started seeing her first boyfriend. She didn’t know he was a wererat nor did she know that the accidental scratch he gave her during sex would lead to her becoming infected. It was a difficult transition from blind human to blind shifter especially when her already overly sensitive senses became that much keener. Things broke down between her and her boyfriend and he eventually left Seattle leaving her to deal with the aftermath on her own. It was difficult trying to use the skills she’d acquired on two legs on four legs; it wasn’t until she was assigned a guardian wererat, someone who was willing to stay with her, at least in rat form, and keep her from harm that she found her footing as a wererat. She still has problems as she can’t read body language when in the presence of other shifters and she doesn’t always know where her tail is in relation to other shifters.
She managed to finish school and earn her PhD and a job posting with the FBI. She excelled as a profiler and as a psychiatrist using her shifter heightened senses to her advantage when talking with a suspect or fellow officer. The more she uses her senses though, the more headaches she gets and she’s still trying to figure out how to manage the headaches as pain medication doesn’t work on her anymore.
With the rash of shifter killings in Boston, she was reassigned to the Boston Police Department and is attempting to settle in.
Strengths: Her sense of hearing and smell are heightened even more than a regular shifter and she can often pick up on nuances that others miss. She’s faster than most shifters as she doesn’t rely on sight to figure out what someone is going to do
Weaknesses: When in human form, she tends to get headaches from her overly sensitive hearing and sense of smell. Some days it can be debilitating much like a migraine headache. She is 100% blind
