Personality: Joy is bright, friendly, cheerful and more than a little talkative – in fact, you’d be hard pressed to get her to shut up. She tends to be ‘all talk’ and has a habit of stretching the truth or casually omitting details that she feels would paint a different picture of her than she wants.
She loves attention; whether it is negative or just the ‘wrong kind’ doesn’t matter as long as she’s in the spotlight.
Joy has the unhealthy belief that she can get everything she wants by using her flirty ways and has perfected the art of being ‘jail bait’. She can find that perfect mix of sex kitten and innocent teen that sets many men to thinking dirty thoughts even if they refuse to act on them.

History: Joy was raised in Seattle by her clueless (and rather ditzy) mother, her father having left when she was only two. Never one to be alone, Jessica Burnette always had a string of men parading through her home. This started Joy’s near obsession with older men and it only got worse when she reached her teenage years and began catching the eye of her mother’s less than honorable boyfriends. Joy realized quickly that she could get everything she wanted by simply batting her eyelashes and flashing a bit of skin.
When she started high school, Joy tried out for the cheerleading team. She found a whole group of girls who were just as catty and lie-happy as she was.
She fell in with the ‘popular’ crowd and even dated the captain of the football team for a while.
Though she reveled in the attention at school, Joy was on the constant lookout for an older man to be her ‘sugar daddy’. Eventually she found him in her high school science teacher, Richard Gaines. Their illegal romance quickly spiraled out of control with Richard returning the obsession. He bought her everything she wanted, paid for manicures and brought her to the Bahamas under the guise of being her father.
Joy was thrilled with her situation but Richard had a secret: he was a
wereleopard and he wanted Joy to be his ‘mate’. Just shy of her graduation,
Richard spilled his secret but Joy wasn’t so keen on getting that particular type of fur coat. She refused his offer to infect her but Richard wasn’t so easily deterred. Being a strong alpha, he shifted just his hands and attacked her, managing to claw her up enough to ensure she became what he was.
Somehow Joy managed to get out of the hotel room. She went immediately to the nearest hospital and, feeling betrayed, quickly gave up Richard’s name to the police.
The combination of the resulting scandal and the fact that her daughter was now a monster was enough to push Jessica over the edge. She disowned her daughter and, as soon as she turned 18, Joy moved across the country, deciding on Boston for no real reason other than she’d never been there before. She ended up in contact with the local pard and joined up without hesitation, glad to be amongst people who shared her disease if nothing else.
Strengths: Joy is very loyal to Chase and would do anything for him, though this stems from a hardcore crush.
Weaknesses: Joy has a serious weakness for older men – daddy issues, some say.
Other: Deep down it’s the desire to be loved and secure that she’s searching for but she doesn’t quite know how to get it without sex.
