| Personality: Jan is a laid back kind of guy who enjoys exercising the
lycanthropic power that he has---he has very little conscience and no sense of guilt, especially when he's following orders---though he has learned when he should keep his mouth shut and when it'll serve him better to speak up. He can be extremely charming if he wants to and usually uses this charm to get women into bed, though he hardly considers himself heterosexual; he just doesn't believe in wasting niceties with male partners if he can get away without it.

History: Jan never knew his mother; she left him and his father when he was less than a year old, or at least that's what Jan's father told him. He has no memory of his mother except that the old rosary he wears used to belong to her.
His father raised him alone until Jan was ten when he was arrested for raping a work colleague. So Jan went to live with his Uncle Luca and, while Luca never touched Jan, the man was a pervert who enjoyed sharing his evenings with Jan watching porn, not to mention a wereleopard (though no one but Jan's father---and then Jan---knew about it). Jan picked up most of his beliefs about sex from his uncle (he believes that there's no such thing as a heterosexual human being, merely one that hasn't been propositioned correctly and that men always want whatever kind of sex they can get, no matter what they might say to the contrary---i.e. men can't be raped) not to mention a very loose set of morals.
Jan's father was killed while in prison, so Jan's uncle took legal custody of him to keep him out of the system. When Jan was in his teens, Luca would often leave him alone, so Jan made friends with some of the local punks, joining their "gang"; they never did anything more criminal than defacing city and private property, but Jan enjoyed the sense of belonging and power. Once he turned eighteen, Jan's uncle asked him if he wanted to become a lycanthrope, like he was, and Jan agreed, so Luca infected him. In the pack, Jan's uncle looked after him until Jan decided to move to Las Vegas with a-then girlfriend (who was also a wereleopard).
In Vegas, Jan got a job as a construction worker and part-timed as hired muscle for a loan shark. He broke up with the girlfriend he'd moved to Vegas with after she caught him cheating on her (he didn't feel guilty since he'd invited her to join them once she caught them and she'd been the one who'd refused) and decided that he wasn't going to doing the "relationship thing" anymore.
Jan worked his way up within the ranks of the Las Vegas pack and got to be real friendly with his Leader who liked Jan enough to look the other way on several issues concerning Jan's rough treatment of the lower wereleopards, especially certain weak males. However, when the Leader lost his next challenge, the new leader decided that it was too dangerous having Jan around and exiled him out of the pard because he was too wary of the wereleopard to attempt to kill him outright.
So kicked out of Las Vegas, Jan traveled the US for a bit looking for a pack he could fit into. He came to Boston and was attempted into the pard without too much trouble; his being an alpha probably had a lot to do with that. However, after he actually settled down, he got in trouble when one of the lower shifters in the city accused him of raping him. Because of the alliance between the leopards and the accuser’s group at the time, the leader of the pard sided with the accuser and had Jan thoroughly punished, which Jan absolutely resented. The punishment had all but branded him as a rapist amongst the pard, shutting down most of his attempts to seduce his pard members.
When the plague hit, Jan was fortunately---or perhaps unfortunately---one of those who survived unscathed. He held little sympathy for those the plague did take and simply hoped that his accuser was one of them. However, with the pard weakened, Jan stepped up to the challenge of getting the pard functional again, obeying his leader with a deference that he normally didn’t show anyone.
Strengths: A great cook and fairly talented singer, very good at street-fighting (no formalized style of fighting), knows when to keep his mouth shut, is capable of using most anything from a Firestar to a shot gun, also a skillful mechanic especially when it comes to motorcycles
Weaknesses: usually thinks with his “hindbrain” first, hates admitting he was wrong, has very little patience
Other: Likes: Sex, TV, riding his motorcycle at dangerous speeds, reading, breaking things, messing with people, beer (though his does like the strong stuff, too) --- Dislikes: prudes, people who make fun of his name, clingy/needy people
