War at Brina

The date is January 18, 2241 and The Diridian Republic (TDR) have been waging war with the Protocol of Diridia (PoD). They have been fighting over the resources on the planet of Dirida for just over three months now. “Let’s go!” a man shouted off in the distance. That would be Scott Galer, the leader of TDR. Everybody just calls him by an old nickname he received in High School, Dragons. He is a well built, aggressive but conservative 30 year old. His face and
clothes are covered with a thin layer of dried mud.TDR's base back on earth has decided to send more troops to Ghej Plateau in aiding the war. They should arrive in roughly five days, on January 23, 2241. As the war rages on, neither side gains the upper hand for long. The sides are so equally matched that the conflict could go on for years with nothing changed at all. All the greenery within a 10 mile radius has been burned from the nukes that have been deployed. “Come on troops, I have a feeling today is the day we get the upper hand. Now let’s go out there and fight!” Dragons encouraged. The soldiers marched into war at Brina’s Valley with high hopes. Brina’s Valley is scattered sparsely with resources and large boulders. They were fighting for five minutes before needing reinforcements from the main base. As they were sent to the battle field the enemy got their reinforcements and started to gain the upper hand. Dragons yelled to his troops, “Fall back and wait for the others to get here!” Strategically, the remaining marines escaped from the valley only to find that the reinforcements had not come yet. Two hours later they finally arrived to a barely surviving camp. Dragons went to Catherine, the communications officer on duty, to see why they had arrived so late. She told him they had to be careful because the PoD had sent out a group to patrol the area. Five days have passed since those troops were late to the valley and more reinforcements have come from Earth so they will be ready when they are needed. They landed on the Ghej plateau, a TDR base in the far east. The next morning was a cold, wet, and quiet one compared to what the marines were used to. They called their base on the Ghej plateau but no contact was made. Everyone got ready to fight and left the camp with all their gear. Scott stayed behind to try and figure out the communication problem with Catherine. As Catherine and him were discussing the possible solutions to the problem, they heard screaming of several marines who were now running through the camp. As he ran by us, one of the marines screamed, “You gotta get outta here as fast as possible! They’re coming!” Another ran by and hollered, “Don’t let them get me!” Catherine and Dragons weren’t sure what to do so they started to run the opposite direction to see what was going on. They looked over the hill and saw some marines trying to hold their own against a giant swarm of giant bug-like creatures that had to go on for miles. Dragons and Catherine ran away as fast as they possibly could to find safety against these seemingly invincible creatures. As they ran, Dragons looked back and saw about 30 dog sized creature burrow out of the ground into their base who immediately starting attack near by soldiers. Their running led the soldiers to a large ancient looking temple that was never mentioned in mission breifings. They went inside and ran down the extremely wide halls with giant pillars in the center about every 15 feet. Finally after running for what seemed like forever they came across a structure. It had stairs leading up to a giant blue swirling portal. Dragons looked behind them to see how many had made it. Dragons only saw two other people standing with Catherine and him. One of those people was the guy that gave him his nickname from High School, Chris Kaze. Kaze was almost identical to Dragons personality and physique. Dragons hadn't spoken to Kaze for several years. He found out that Kaze was the leading officer for the PoD. The person standing next to Kaze was on the enemy’s side as well, his name was Daemon. Just then they heard a rumbling in the ground seeming to be rippling from a spot not too far behind. They all turned around to see a giant mound of dirt rising from the ground. A monster that had to be at least 20 times bigger than their tanks arose from the ground right in front of them. It had giant pincers coming from its mouth that cut strait through the pillar in the middle of the hall as it came towards them. Daemon ran instinctively into the portal and the others followed by example. The group thought they had walked right through the portal as they came out the other side to see the same temple ruins. Dragons looked around the portal to find that the giant creature had left. He also thought it was very strange that the pillar that had been cut down was still intact. They walked down the halls searching for any other survivors. After hours and hours of searching the giant labyrinth that is the temple and no survivors they decided to leave. When they left they found no evidence that anything had even happened there. The four lost soldiers had been looking for any sign of life that could aid them in their search for their base camps. They traveled until night the next day. They then slept for the night with the thoughts of the past events still fresh in their minds. After waking up, they only walked for a little over an hour before finding tank tracks in the mud. They followed the tracks for about a mile. They finally arrived at a giant plateau known as the Ghej plateau. Dragons led them to the camp with a feeling of great purpose in life. When they reached the entrance, the highly trained gunman asked for their names and rank. When Dragons mentioned his name the guard, with an apologetic tone, told them they could enter. The base very heavily guarded with the best of equipment in machines and artillery. Dragons and the group went to the leader of the base. Everyone called him Havik. “What happened with your communicator?” asked Dragons. Havik acted completely shocked with question and told Dragons it had only been down for approximately 20 minutes when they had landed. The leader asked how he even knew it had happened. The group all looked at each other and started talking amongst themselves. They finally finished talking and asked to know what day it was. The leader told them it was January 19, 2241. All of the four remaining survivors of the attack looked and realized the portal they had walked into was a time portal that sent them four days into the past. Dragons told Havik the story slowly so he would understand. He believed the story and knew something had to be done. He asked a low class marine to prepare the dropships. Five minutes later all of the fantastic machinery and artillery had been loaded onto the dropships and were taken to TDR’s base. All of the soldiers at the base cheered as the reinforcements stepped off of the transports. TDR’s soldiers almost killed Kaze and Daemon for being of the PoD’s before Dragons told them they were on their side. Kaze went down to his own base and told them the same story that had been told to Havik. Several hours after Kaze had left, he returned with thousands among thousands of troops to aid the upcoming war. They all waited eagerly for the invasion to begin. Everyone was silent as they waited, the wind blew around the soldiers and tanks stationed in Brina. Right on schedule the Kerones, as the original four survivors called them, had arrived to the mass amounts of weaponry. They fought the Kerones with all the energy they could muster. The tanks killed almost anything they came across and the marines fired at will into the giant wave of Kerones rushing towards them. After hours of fighting the Kerones, they were finally defeated. The remaining retreated on their transports. Everyone cheered at their victory not thinking about the future encounters with these vicious creatures.
