| HER GOAL ACHIEVED She awoke from deep slumber as the sunny day was ahead of her. This was the day to achieve her personal goal. One only of importance to her, and no one else. But isn't it the small goals in life achieved that gives us our mind set to pursue the bigger goals in life? The road lay before her as she began her journey. The wind whisped at her red cheeks as the concrete passed under her 2 wheels and became a blur. Her leathers keeping her safe as her fringe blew with every gust of wind. The mountains in the distance calling her name as they grew closer and closer. Ah, there it was finally, a road never taken, never traveled by this spirit. It was to be a day of joy and wonderment. She knew she was following her heart's desire, for as soon as the curves started unfolding before her, she spied a hawk soaring over her, a sign that the day was indeed hers, and her heart would pound with the racing of her engine, and the curves would be easily navigated, for this was HER passion. One shared by many, yet still as individual as each rider of the steel horse makes it to be. The road lay before her, beckoning. Her wings carried her effortlessly as if they were of one mind and soul. Her heart was the smooth running of the engine, her spirit as free as the feathers blowing in the wind on her bike. They were one once again. How insignificant the small goal set for this day, yet how nurturing for her spirit. For the achievement of one goal, is the dream of creation and accomplishment in life. The hills of autumn's color stretched out to her left, and fields of corn waiting for a farmer's attention on her right, guiding her and filling her senses with fall's wonderment. She wished this day would never have to end. But knowing at her journey's end would be her goal accomplished, her mileage met, and her spirit flying free again. A small achievement in the great scheme of life, but an important one for this day none the less. Too often we race thru life, not seeing what is right before our eyes. Not taking in the beauty of our mother earth with all our senses. Stop and watch a bird in flight skimming the unseen wind, smell the sweet scents of autumn's leaves, listen to nature communicating with you, feel the bite of the crisp fall air on your face, and taste all of her bountiful fruits. Find your passion, set your goals, follow your heart, and watch in wonderment where it takes you. Brenda 10/31/00 |

| SIDE BY SIDE Side by side into the sunset on our steel horses we will ride, as the last glints of the setting sun shine off your chrome and mine. With the stars in the sky to guide us we leave our trail of tears behind, Into a new future on steel horses we journey, carried on the wings of our spirit guides. As a new day's rising sun shines upon us, my hair blowing from an easterly wind, our hearts beat in unison with a distant magical drum. and thunder shakes the earth below us. But it is not from our mounts as we shift our gears to scale the hills and valleys in our lives, but from our hearts, racing faster than our engines, for true love is what we have finally found. Knowing we have filled the void in our souls and our dreams are fantasy no more, our blood will rush thru our veins as mighty as the Mississippi flows from Mother Earth. The twinkle in our eyes will surely show the fire burning in our hearts, and will shine brighter than the highest star for it's YOU who have captured my heart. Brenda 5/29/01 |
| Without You Words from my lips are meaningless, without you nearby to hear them. Everyday life is black and white, without seeing your smile to color my heart. My thoughts are senseless, without you to challenge my mind so I can express myself clearly. My hands have no feeling, without the warmth of you to wrap my arms around. Sounds around me are ignored, without your voice to ease my day and soothe my night. My eyes see no beauty, until I see you again... Brenda Nov. 2000 |

| Chariots of Steel Horses of steel was their only bond until the end of their first day together drew near, and the reality of the new direction down life's winding path dawned on them like the tranquility of the setting sun. Standing breathless on the hill, feeling the crisp gusts of the nipping wind at their cheeks, surrounded by the colors of autumn paled only by the red hues of the sunset casting a shadow of the two wandering souls dissolved into one, they realized they were strangers no more. Their desire for each other made even the brilliant rays of the setting sun fade quickly in comparison. Their dreaded moment of separation was near as they embraced each other, wrapped in the love of each other's arms, their lips revealing the desires that burned from within, not wanting to let go of their heart's desire they had finally found, hoping to fill their final moments together with a memory that would freeze in time, and keep them warm, until the day their chariots of steel would bring them together once again.
