Chapter 3-
“So what’s so important
that we had to come home early?” Spike asked once they were heading back to
their living quarters. He and Dawn had gotten a quick bite to eat on the way.
“I’ve come up with the
best idea on how to finish the Slayer!” he said smiling to himself.
“Aren’t you off this
yet?” Spike asked exasperated.
“Ok, maybe you don’t
fully grasp the concept here,” Angelus began, stopping to face Spike. “She’s
the Slayer, we’re vampires. Now I know you can be smart, Spike, having killed
two already, it’s what we do!”
“Yeah, but you’re
taking this above and beyond, to a whole new obsessive level!”
“No other vampire has
been through what I’ve been through, especially with a Slayer.”
“Ok, so what’s the
plan, Angelus?” Dawn asked with a sigh, hoping to nip the fight, which was sure
to ensue, in the bud. She and Spike both were tiring of Angelus’ obsession. The
two of them we un-dusted and out of Sunnydale, what more could they want?
“Pandora’s
Box.”
“What?” Dawn asked
confused.
“The Mythological
Pandora’s Box, Pandora’s Box?” Spike asked.
“Yes, except the box is
as real as you and me.”
“Oh, please,” Dawn
said, rolling her eyes.
“You know, Luv, I didn’t think it was possible, but, Angelus, I think
you’ve gone even more crazy than you were!”
“I’m not crazy, I’m
perfectly sane!”
Spike quirked an eye
brow, “Right,” he said nodding. Angelus charged into him pinning him against
the side of a brick building.
“Pissing me off would
not be a good idea right now!” He growled at Spike, changing into game face.
“Alright, Angelus, back
off,” Dawn said moving to try and get between them. Angelus hit her and knocked
her backwards onto the floor.
He took a stronger grip
on Spike, slamming his head into the building. “Do we understand each other?”
Angelus asked Spike.
“Yeah,” Spike ground
out. Dawn slowly began to get up.
“I can do this with or
without you!” he told them both with a growl. Spike looked away from him with a
sigh, as Dawn hugged her self afraid of what might happen next, both knowing
exactly what he meant by ‘without you’. He let Spike go, giving him a final
warning stare.
“So what do we have to
do?” Dawn asked.
“Plenty, so let’s get
going. We need to find the location of the box and retrieve it.”
“But we just got here!”
Dawn cried out.
“Yeah,
over two months ago!” Angelus shot back. “I can’t stand it here,
besides, I hate the British!” Dawn pouted at him. “I don’t think so, Princess,
that on doesn’t work on me. We’re leaving in the next few days without any
complaining. Now let’s go.”
They arrived back at
their living quarters, letting themselves in. “Do we even know how to find the
location of the box?” Spike asked as they entered.
“I remember reading
something in a book that Wesley had about how to locate it.”
“So we have to go all
the way back to
“No, Spike. Let’s think
about where we are for a second.” Spike frowned in confusion.
Dawn perked up; excited
she knew the answer Angelus was trying to get at. “Oh, I know we’re in
“Correct! I knew you
were good for something.” He put his arm around her waist puling her against
him, “You picked a good one, Spike,” he said with a smile.
“It all comes with the
territory, guys, having been the Slayer’s sister, this stuff just comes
naturally.”
“So we’re just going to
go there to get the information?”
“Yup,” Angelus answered
simply.
“I want to know what
it’s like inside your head.”
“What?” Angelus asked,
confused by Spike’s comment.
“Because we’re vampires
and that’s the factory that produces our worst enemy in every generation. So
how do you propose that we get in there without being caught?”
“Don’t worry about
that. It won’t be that difficult.”
“What?” It was Spike’s
turn to be confused. “That place is going to be locked up tighter than
“To vampires like us,
yes, but to vampires like our Dawn here,” he wrapped both his arms around her,
nuzzling against her hair, “no.”
Realization lit up in
her eyes, “That’s right! They know you guys, but as far as they know I don’t
exist.” Dawn pulled out of Angelus’ embrace to face both of them. “I could tell
them that Buffy’s needs information from a book. Just tell me what book it was
and I’ll say that Giles sent me.”
“I think that’ll work.”
Angelus said to her with a devilish smile on his face. He went to grab a piece
of paper and a pencil, writing down the name of the book. “The headquarters
library should have every book on the topic, with the exception of a few rare
and dark books. This one seemed like your run of the mill demons and mythology
book.” Angelus finished, handing the paper to Dawn. “It’s to late to go now,
but as soon as the sun sets tomorrow night I want you to go.”
