Chapter 2-
Spike and Dawn sat at
the table, taking up space in their small kitchen by a back window; a blanket
covered it serving as protection from the sun’s deadly rays. Dawn ran her
finger down his cheek while sitting on his lap. Angelus read the news paper
across from them.
“Nothing ever changes,”
Angelus said smiling, reading an article that had made the front page, complete
with pictures.
“What’s that?” Dawn
asked, reluctantly turning her attention away from Spike.
“Ah, just the abundance
of violence through out the human world. No matter how civilized they are or
claim to be, it just doesn’t make a difference.”
“Oh,
that it?” Dawn said un-amused. Dawn never took interest in violence and
destruction, unless it was her own.
“Hey, I’ve got a great
idea!” Angelus said, putting down the news paper. “Let’s go out tonight!”
“Together?” Spike asked
confused. He couldn’t remember the last time they all went out together, let
alone when Angelus had suggested they do it.
“I don’t know. I just
feel like a small meal tonight,” Dawn responded, attention completely focused
on Spike.
“I don’t thing it’s
such a bad idea, Pet.”
“Well I’ll go if you
want to.”
“Then it’s settled.
We’ll go out together tonight. We’ve still got a few hours before sunset, so I’ll
see you then.” Angelus left the table heading in the direction of his room.
“Are you sure you want
to do this, Spike? We can stay home if you want.”
“Yeah, it’s ok. We did
this kinda thing in the 1800s. It’ll be great fun.”
“Well then, I can’t
wait.” She smiled sweetly at him and kissed him deeply.
Later that night the
three of them headed out onto the
The building with the
neon sign on the outside and bright flashing strobe colors with pounding music
on the inside, were where the vampires were now weaving through the people to
the bar.
The club was full and
people were packed in so tightly there was barely any where to walk. At the bar,
Dawn placed her order with one of the tenders, making sure to lean her chest
onto the counter with her low cut shirt. “I’ll have a screwdriver, one Jack,
and one scotch for my boys.” She smiled sweetly and winked at him when she got
her drinks. “Thanks,” she said as she walked off.
She met up with Spike
and Angelus at a back table. “Scotch for Angelus,” she handed him the glass,
“and a Jack for my Spike.” She moved close to him, giving him his drink. “Here
you go.”
“Thanks, Pet.” He
kissed her cheek and nuzzled against her hair.
Angelus threw back his
drink, putting the glass back on the table. “Well I’m going to go find a meal,”
and with that he disappeared into the crowd.
Dawn looked to Spike,
“Do you want to dance?”
“Why
not.” Dan held out her hand and Spike took it, leading her to the dance
floor.
Angelus moved through
the people easily. He watched everyone he when he passed them, looking for the
perfect treat. And there she was nursing a drink, alone. He encircled her
table, coming up behind her. “Hi,” he said in a low voice, “Can I sit down?”
She looked at him
startled, but soon smiled in response, “Sure.”
“Thanks.” He sat down
in the chair next to her. “So, I was wondering if you’d be interested in
joining me for a cup of coffee.” He smiled charmingly.
“I don’t think so,” she
shook her head.
“Oh c’mon, I won’t
bite,” he chuckled lightly. “We’re just two people getting to know each other
in a quieter setting.”
“Well, I guess it’s
ok.”
“Great!” He got up and
pulled out her chair. She grabbed her coat off the back of the chair, as
Angelus led her to an alley door on the other side of the club. “By the way,”
he began as they exited the club, “My name’s Angelus.”
“Angelus,
really?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m Pandora.” Angelus
frowned for a second after hearing her name.
‘Well, I’m afraid I
might have lied to you earlier.” His features shifted into his true form as she
turned to face him, confused.
“And what was th…oh my god!” Angelus grabbed her roughly and held her
against the wall.
“I actually do bite,
hard.” He prepared to sink his fangs into her, when he hesitated, “Oh, and I’d
like to thank you for the great idea you gave me.” He continued to go ahead and
bite her, getting his meal.
When he finished he let
her body drop to the ground then headed back inside in search for Dawn and Spike.
When he found them they
were both entertaining a potential snack. “Hey you two.
C’mon we’re leaving!” They looked at him confused.
“Hey,
Angelus! You may be finished, but that doesn’t mean we are! You go
ahead, we’ll meet you back at the flat,” Spike yelled at him.
“Now!”
Angelus growled.
“C’mon, Spike. We’ll
eat later.” Dawn took his hand as they followed Angelus.
