Life Can Rarely Be Sweet © S. Cordeiro 4/11/01 Life can rarely be sweet Like candy We all want some every now and then The sweetness of the sugar reaching our lips And holding on into our stomachs For worthy costs. It goes downhill from there To a hospital bed Leather straps Metal buckles of brass Holding me down tightly. It hurts to struggle Though I keep trying. Cutting through my soft skin Shedding golden blood Down the silver steel rail. The nurse comes in To give another needle In the same spot she did two hours ago. My muscles are sore, As she doesn't see the blood, now starting to thicken on the rail. She doesn't seem to care On how much pain I am in. I close my eyes, Relaxing after a hard days struggle Through life as it gets better as well.
