A Day Ago

She sat in the middle of her room,
That was a day ago.
She ate at this very table,
That was a day ago.
She watched television in this room,
That was a day ago.
A screech of wheels;
Two cars collide.
The girl is thrown upon the road.
Rubber treads upon her flesh.
Her soul is gone.
That was a day ago.
Everything happened so fast.
She is gone and we remain.
Perhaps we'll go another day,
But all we can really say is;
It happened all a day ago.
