Opposite is an example of the Bishop's taking pieces off the board, as you can see, there is no distance restriction. But there is a limited amount of squares for each Bishop to travel on.

| The Bishop can move any number of squares diagonally if it's path is not blocked. Note that there is two forms of a
Bishop, a white (light) tile Bishop and a black (dark) tile Bishop. These
pieces are restricted to the original colour tiles.
