| Losers |
| Nasturtiums - (were doing great, but lost them to rust), Violet odorata - I put it in the front yard and the sun killed it. Hostas in general were ravaged by slugs. Rancanculus - not enough sun. Gladiolus - planted over 150 and never saw a bloom as the squirrels like to eat the bulbs and the rabbits like the leaves. Suffered in the heat. Pacific Giant Delphiniums - can't take the heat - did well until late June Aubrieta - same as above. Lavender - not enough sun. Ornamental Peppers - not enough sun. Allium - foilage, no blooms - not enough sun where planted. Acidanthera - foilage no blooms- not enough sun where planted The Worst: (1) Kurume Azaleas, planted 10 in specially prepared beds and lost them all. They did well for 2 months and then bit the dust. (Cultivars were: Hinde Giri, Hershey Red and Hino Crimson). (2) Pelargoniums (what some people call geraniums) - looked great for 2 weeks and then "poof." |
