Mr. Merle V. Whipple, age 77, passed away Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003, at his home. He was born December 19, 1925 in Lake City, MI to Earl and Edna (Shackelton) Whipple. He served with the United States Navy during W.W.II in Okinawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima, and later in the United States Air Force serving in Korea and China. He retired from the Air Force. He married Hazel M. Wimmer on November 30, 1946.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Hazel; son, Greg (Mary) Whipple; daughter, Diann (Larry) Bourgoin; granchildren: Michael (Jan) Bourgoin, Nathan (Carrie) Whipple; 4 great-grandchildren: Joseph and Taylor Bourgoin, and Collin and Caden Whipple.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Whipple will be held Thursday, January 30th at 3:00 p.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. with Reverend Eric Strattan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana
