About PC ComputerNotes C. Young Craig is a certified computer technician and consultant in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has taught classes in Computer Basics and PC Upgrade and Repair at one of the local colleges since 1995. - K.C. This site has been under construction and evolving since 1998. It was started on a free, ISP provided sub-domain as a study guide for any student that wished to use it. Originally, it contained most of the course outline for the PC Upgrade and Repair class in point form (my notes), and much of the material distributed in class. It's basically an introductory course in computer usage, components, terminology and troubleshooting. I had many requests to further develop the website and cover the information in a more expanded format. Well, I've been plugging away at it, and the 24 hour day has been my biggest roadblock. I started to expand on one section or topic at a time, received some much needed collaboration, and in May 2000, PC ComputerNotes moved to it's own domain. The physical class covers a lot of material in a very short time, and it really is impossible to absorb everything. The main objective of this site is to provide a basic study guide for students wishing to write their Comptia A+ technicians exam. However, I'd like to be able to do so in a way that would help develop the beginner's interest and teach him/her to explore and investigate the many different resources and materials available. You will never find a single resource that covers everything you want or need to know, in a manner that you can understand. You may have information from a course or manual that you don't fully comprehend; another manual may explain it better, or you may gain a better perspective from the two explanations. It's extremely common to find a resource that disagrees with a procedure or information from another resource. In which case, you'll have to make a decision based on what you've learned as well as your own knowledge, experience and common sense. If any of the information in these pages disagrees with the info in your computer's manual, or the manual of any device or peripheral, always follow the manual. Every computer and device can be different.
