Alright, you're here. L'ile verte de la mer bleue is French for, "the green island of the blue sea" and that is what this book is about. I haven't done much for it, I just started writing, and I'm putting it away for later. It's an interesting story to say the least. If you've read Dr. Franklin's Island, you might think that this book is very similar at the beginning, but it gets different quickly. Basically, it's about what could happen if six teenagers get stranded on an island and don't get rescued. I say 'could' because it wouldn't necessarily happen, of course.
Here are the characters:
- Anne Thompson, the narrator
- Juliette MacDonald is the first person she meets
- Sphora Du Pont is a French-speaking girl who names the island
- Luc Du Pont is Sphora's twin brother, also doesn't speak English
- Karl Andrews is the antagonist at first, but later becomes nicer. He is the only one who can speak with the French twins
- Chris Orwelle, a quiet boy who doesn't do much at first
Later there are three more characters. Too bad I'm not going to tell you how they get there right now. Me saying that will most likely lead you to the correct answer, though.
Basically, they are all on a special flight for exchange students, and it gets hijacked. The French twins were in Canada, and Anne is from New Hampshire, although the place took off from Florida. Anne meets Juliette right away on the plane, and they become fast friends. When the plane gets hijacked, they decide to jump from the emergency exit that was opened by an attendant. They manage to swim to an island, and are followed by the other four teens.
Anne is very lucky in that she has her entire waterproof duffel bag with her, and her parents had bought her a radio, which was not broken in the hijacking. By listening to the radio, they find out that the plane and all aboard are considered lost, and no rescue missions are going on. They later try to take apart the radio to emit a signal, but they fail and the radio is later destroyed by accident.
They have to keep living life on the island, knowing that they will not be rescued. It's hard, because they are just teenagers, and naturally, lots of... things happen.
And that's all I have to say right now! Have a nice day!
