November 25, 2003 San Gabriel Valley Labor-Community Alliance Minutes from meeting at 7:00 p.m. at Monterey Park City Hall (320 W. Newmark Ave.) 1. Teamsters have joined the strike for at least a week. Drivers for the three supermarket unions will not deliver food. Teamsters say that they will take their work stopage nationwide if the strike continues into next week. We may need to set up a community picket at the distribution center if a court prevents the Teamsters from being effective in preventing deliveries. We would probably go to the Von in El Monte. 2. Resolution in support of UFCW strikers passes in the Monterey Park City Council. The resolution passed by a vote of 5 to 0. 3. The Alhambra Democratic Club voted to adopt a store and donate $500 to the cause. 4. Free food. The Alhambra Democratic Club is holding its holiday cherity dinner on Friday, Dec. 5, 7:00 p.m. at the Joslyn Center at Chapel just north of Main. 5. Leafleting. Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Al Maldonado's house at 107 N. First St., Unit #E, Alhambra. 6.
