November 10, 2003                  Community Labor Alliance

Agenda items:
1. Internal politics at UFCW 770,
2. Results of resolution at Alhambra City Council meeting, and
3. What to do next.

Strikers need ice, sodas, and apples.

At the Alhambra City Council meeting the progressive resolution was
defeated by a vote of three to two. The council has three conservative
members and two liberal members. The three conservative members gutted the
progressive resolution and them passed a conservative resolution by a vote
of three to two.

There are several versions of a good leaflet produced by the UFCW. You can
get copies of the UFCW's flyers from picket captains at the stores. There
was criticism that these flyers are too wordy and don't reflect the threat
that this attack on workers represents to the American middle class.
Somemone in the group may produce a more hard-hitting flyer.

A group will meet at Alvaro's house at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, 11/15/03
to distribute leaflets in Alhambra. Alvaro lives at 107 North First Street,
Alhambra.

Mudd wants to focus on getting letters to the corporate offices from
customers.
Mudd's flyer says the following:
Help bring an end to the strike!
Please write a letter to one of the addresses below.
Be creative. Enclose your cut up club card or a store ad with a black X
written through it.
