Thanks for your forum, Squrtd !! WHY is this whole story so absolutely haunting and full of intrigue?!? Just finished Harper Lee's bio & it had new facts about the case that intrigued me. I wish the Maders would let people take tours of their home, but I absolutely undertand their need for privacy. It would really give me some closure if I could just see where this took place. I heard years ago, that they had considered making it a B&B, but apparently nixed the idea. There was also a fascinating update on the story from The Univ Of NE Journalism School, well worth the $20 for it. Interestingly, I made contact online with the kind children of Mrs. Helm (the housekeeper) several years ago, and after a brief period of correspondence, we sadly lost touch. I still wonder how they're all doing, and wish I had kept writing them. If anyone wants to yack about this further, please contact me.
