What We Do |
Trap and Release: Spay/Neuter and Vaccinate! The Feral Cat Project is a humane trap and release program founded by Alexis Baffa. Our main focus is spaying and neutering feral cats in Grenada West Indies. We are proud to have provided 6th term St. Georges University Veterinary Students with spay, neuter and other surgical experience under the watchful eye of the senior surgery staff. In addition to this service we also respond to calls about any sick or injured cat and provide treatment and proper medical attention. Recently we have expanded to offer a fostering and adoption service to insure all people friendly cats find loving forever homes. Research Projects! The Feral Cat Project supports any humane research that benefits the lives of people and animals. Currently we are involved in the following research to benefit the Grenadian public human and feline alike: Dr. Sharma- Prevalence of Toxoplasmosis in Grenada West Indies Dr. Saul- Sero Prevalence of Feline Leukemia and FIV in Grenada West Indies Dr. Harriharan- Bacteriology research on cultures taken from feral cats. More information to come. Have a research project you would like to do? We want to help! Contact us at [email protected]. Make sure you include Research information request in the subject line. Wet Labs! Education wet labs that benefit students and clients alike. To find out what wet labs we are running please visit the events section of our website Adoptions! FCP strives to place all people friendly cats young and old in loving forever homes. We realize that sometimes this is more complicated then it seems so we started our own adoption committee. The adoption committee fosters our animals an makes sure they are up to date on all vaccinations and physical exams. They also insure that all of our animals waiting for a forever home receive the necessary medical attention and are in full heath before they reach their new homes. Everyone on the adoption committee reviews adoption forms. We know that most people make wonderful pet parents but sometimes the timing or situation is not right. This is not always easy to see in our own lives so our adoption forms are made to take people through the full thought process of what adopting an new forever pet will entail. It is our hope that this will be especially helpful for first time pet parents. The Feral Cat Project is always there to support our adoption families. We are sure to follow up with post adoption calls to make sure that every human animal pair is a good one. In the case that there are problems we readily accept animals back into foster care for any reason. Every cat is an individual and has their perfect match, we know with our careful adoption process our cats will find theirs. The Homeward Bound Committee Focused on bringing cheaper pet friendly flights to Grenada to help get our adopted cats home. Therapy Animal Certification through Delta Society Training and visits! More to come! |
