Every student is capable of
getting an A. Grades are not based solely on
quality. Effort and progress play an important
part in the assignment of grades. |
| |
The Dean has been an editor for many years
and has low tolerance for sloppy writing. By
avoiding her pet peeves and following a few
simple rules, you can get an A. |
| |
Do's: |
| |
- Proof read
- Have someone from the Student
Center read your thesis before you
submit it
- Keep it simple
- Use a dictionary to look up words instead
of a thesoris
- Use character names whenever appropriate
- Use "said" and
"asked" instead of words like
"queried" or
"mumbled" or
"exclaimed"
|
| |
Don't's: |
| |
- Use epithets such as "the smaller
man" and "the younger man"
- Overuse adjectives in descriptions
- Begin paragraphs with an "-ing"
verb
- Change POV when avoidable
- Confuse "prone" and
"supine"
|
| |
When in doubt, ask. |
