Photo #11 After the war in Deggendorf.  This photo was taken in July, 1945. During this period, the 83rd was stationed near Deggendorf, going through maneuvers in preparation for assignment in the Pacific.

Dad brought dozens of pictures home from the war. He had hundreds more, but most were destroyed with his truck at Walternienburg in April, 1945 (see his memoirs for details). Here are a few in his collection.

Photo #3 Dad (left) with his mother, and brothers Andrew and Hogan. Andrew was wounded at Metz and Hogan served in Burma. Another brother, Cecil, was an MP in the occupation army, stationed in Heidelberg. He stood honor guard at Patton's bier in December, 1945.
