DESCRIPTION: THE MYTH OF THE YELLOW UMBRELLA
This yellow Umbrella shown here was originally the same colour as the no.9 variation that appears above on this page. Over time there has been many rumours suggesting that the Yellow Umbrella variation never officially existed. The rumours were that all yellow Umbrella variations were only just orange Hong Kong variations that had been faded in the sun.
Whilst I was in America during the summer of 2007 a friend and I did a little experiment to see if this could actually be done. After allowing this orange Umbrella to sitt in the summer sun for about 3 months we believe that this smurf pictured above looks perfectly like the yellow Umbrella variations that appears in all the smurf catalogues. Therefore caution should be taken when wanting to bid on a yellow Umbrella on Ebay. This yellow Umbrella smurf above cost me a total of 99 US Cents but I have seen some being sold on Ebay for over $150 without any documented proof that one ever existed.
NOTE: There is another yellow Umbrella being sold on Ebay that is very bright compared to this golden yellow Umbrella shown above. It my opinion that this bright yellow variation is nothing more than a recently made fake. Over the last couple of years many different coloured smurf accessories that never previously existed have suddenly appeared. I do not believe that an authentic yellow Umbrella ever existed.....at least not one that was ever sold to the public and can be bought on Ebay.
