Ok here is a basic list of what you need to get. Remember to ask us first before buying anything so you don't buy the wrong thing or pay too much. Try to stay away from the dark green canvas web material and go for a more khaki color. That way you can go early war and late war.As far as clothing you can either use approved repro or original. Click on the pictures for a larger image.

 

1. Haversack, M-1928 (Optional)
haversack.jpg (20648 bytes)This is the standard pack used early in the war. It had just enough room for a change of clothes, a poncho, personal items like a shaving kit and maybe some K- rations. The haversack also supports the cartridge belt which other gear attach to. It should come with a meatcan pouch but if it doesn't you can get one separately see #3. This equipment is usually referred to as Web-gear. 

2. Meatcan, M-1928 (Optional)messtin.jpg (19443 bytes)
This is what you eat out of and usually called a mess tin. It is usually an inexpensive item and helps make the impression complete. 


3. Pouch for Meatcan, M-1928 (Optional) 
It is used to carry your mess tin and attaches to the haversack. usually it comes with the haversack if not you will need to get it.

4. Cartridge Belt, (required) cart_belt.jpg (13510 bytes)
This belt has ten pockets where ammo clips for the 
M1 Garand rifle are held. It's also where the canteen, 
first aid pouch and for the haversack and other accessories attach to. 

5. Canteen and Cover, M-1910 (required)canteen.jpg (44962 bytes)
It usually comes with a  canteen cup which fits on the 
bottom of the canteen but that cup is not required. 


6. First Aid Pouch  (required)

7. First Aid Packet  (optional)

This goes in the first aid pouch and the bandages themselves are not really needed since they are not seen. 




8. Leggings, M-1938 (required)
leggins.jpg (45287 bytes)Made of khaki duck material, leggings protected to soldier from getting dirt and sand in his low quarter service shoes. 



 

9. Bayonet, M-1 and Scabbard M-7 (optional)
bayonet.jpg (17463 bytes)The bayonet is an required piece of equipment that really adds to an impression. Bayonets may never be fastened to the rifle during battle for safety reasons. Original 10” bayonet or cut down with M7 plastic scabbard. 16 inch M1910 or M1942 Bayonets are acceptable for early war (1941 - 1943) events.

10. Entrenching Tool, M-1910 (required)

This is a short non-folding shovel often referred to as the "T"- handle shovel. It  really makes your impression look all the better. It is correct for all battles since it was it was 1st issued in 1910. You just need one shovel so you need to pick between this shovel or the folding shovel below.



11. Entrenching Tool, Folding Shovel (optional)
fold_shovel4.jpg (29628 bytes)This is the cheaper alternative to the T-Shovel but since it was 1st issued in 1943 it can only really be used from the Bulge onwards. Try for a khaki cover if at all possible. You just need one shovel so you need to pick between this shovel or the T shovel above.

12. Dog Tags (optional)
