  Homepage
Cadets is a youth organistion, which is linked with todays military. Once a youth turns 12 and a half, they are able to join the Australian Army Cadets, they may remain until the end of the year in which the turn 18!

The aims of cadets are the following:
a) to develop an interest in the army and its traditions
b) to encourage cadets to continue military of community service
c) to give cadets a foundation of military knowledge and discipline
d) To develop the qualities of leadership, self-descipline, self-reliance and initiative
e) to provide training that may contribute to army common industion training.

Within cadets you are given the opportunity to expand you horizons - to have a different view on life, to find who you are.

In cadets, you are able to get away from home for about 1 week...
this is known as Annual Camp. Where you get the chance to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills, put previously learned skills into practice.

Another aspect of cadets is that you are able to progress up the rank structure, and to achieve this you go on different leadership courses. But the fun doesnt stop there! There are 2 other activities that you may attend, one being a course, where if claimed competant you receive your "wings", on this course, basically, you learn how to jump out of a perfectly good plane! The second is an award, this award is otherwise known as "the Adventure Training Award", the most valued thing in the corps. This award is said to be only given to the Elite of the Corps. This award is a gold boomerang, which is worn on the chest on the righthand side of the uniform
My Cadet Experience!

I started in cadets in March 1998 and I completed my 6 years within the corps in 2003!

Throughout my time within cadets I have achieved the rank of Sergeant, and also the Adventure Training Award!

Junior NCO Course - 1/2000 at Rockdale MUD
Senior NCO Course - 1/2002 at SME
Adventure Training Award - 1/2003
Senior NCO Course - 2/2003 at SME (Being an instructor)

My best experiences within cadets would have to be achieving the Adventure Training Award! Plus seeing the cadets on the seniors course that I instructed on, change and mature throughout the week. Seeing this happen and being apart of it, was truly the best! Thanks guys!!
