National Cadet Corps , a premium CCA group in Singapore.I had never thought of joining it and plying a part its success.
I was given the opportunity, the task and the responsibility of setting up and leading the school based St. Gabriels Secondary School NCC (AIR) Unit in January 2000, when I first joined the school. Since then , the unit has never looked back. We tried our very best for the pride of the school and unit.
I remember the hard times , the many problems and difficulties that we had gone through over the initial years. Thanks to the support of the school management , Commander Air, Staff of HQ NCC (AIR) and most importantly of all , the dedicated, selfless and committed cadets and Cadet Lieutenants , both past and present. Without you , we will not be what we are today, standing up with pride.
I am indeed honoured to be part of this memorable history of the unit. Within just four years , our cadets have made the school and the unit proud. .In 2001, we were the first Air unit to have won and received the Chief of Air Force Challenge Trophy from our Deputy Prime Minister BG (NS) Lee Hisen Loong , during the NCC Centenary celebration . In 2002, the cadets made another history by winning the Gold award in the Inter Unit Proficiency Competition. Our joy and pride continues this years when we made history by winning both the Gold award and the Chief of Air Force Challenge Trophy once again.
To all our cadets, thank you very much. We came with nothing , but when we joined the unit to make history, we leave with our heads held high . Let the history , of our Air unit go on and lets keep our flag flying high.
