Our NCC (AIR) unit began in the year 2000. I recall clearly that in 1999, due to the persistence of the Senior NCOs of the unit, I succumbed to their plea to begin a school-based unit as At St.Gabriels Secondary. Since then we have never look back. With fervor and zeal, the teacher-in-charge, Mr Tuang Fook Yong , Cadet Lieutenants and senior NCOs led the unit very quickly in achieving excellence as the top NCC(AIR) unit in the Beat Unit Competition in 2000. Mr Tuang received with pride the Chief of Air Force Challenge Trophy from our Deputy Prime Minister, BG (NS) Lee Hsien Loong, during the NCC Centenary Parade, in July 2001.
I am indeed very proud of our NCC (AIR) Unit as you were able to sustained the outstanding performance by clinching the Gold award in 2002 and both the Gold Award and the Chief of Air Force Challenge Trophy in 2003. You are a sterling example of one of our school values: With the right attitude, we can achieve. And indeed due to your leadership by example, NCC (AIR) is certainly our pride and joy.
May God continue to bless you in all that you aspire to achieve both in your NCC activities as well as your future endeavors. Remember, with a little determination , you can achieve extraordinary things. Well done and keep St.Gabriels flag fly high . |
