| What is CF? | ||||||||
| CF is a genetic disorder that causes complications to the lungs and digestive tract. It causes the persons mucus to become abnormally thick. The mucus often sticks to the lining of the lungs and digestive tract. This makes it hard for the person to cough it up and therefore, the lungs become a place that bacteria and other germs love to live. Also, one is unable to digest their food properly, and, therefore, must take enzymes whenever he or she eats to help the digestive process along. Many younger kids call CF "65 Roses" because it is a lot easier for them to say and remember than Cystic Fibrosis. The CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION even sells limited edition collector's items with roses on them to help raise money for the foundation which goes towards reasearch. |
