Pertinent Information:
The Zeta Chi Sigma
chapter is the most recent alumni chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc in
the state of Oklahoma. Chartered in 1987 in Norman, the chapter has continued
to progress and emphasize the national slogan, Greater Service, Greater
Progress. It is also contributed to advancement of young women through work
with its Rhoer club and undergraduate chapters Lambda Upsilon at the
University of Oklahoma and Omicron Delta at Southeastern Oklahoma State
University.
Community Activities
and Contributions
The first local
chapter project was an annual Community Service Awards Reception, in which
several individuals who have made a great contribution to the community in the
state of Oklahoma were honored. Additional local projects include participation
the Juneteenth celebration where the chapter has offered free fingerprint
registration for children. Other community activities include clean up projects
and aid donations to the local women's shelter and partnership with the Ralph
Ellison Library after school programs. We initiated the Soror Henri Pete
Memorial Scholarship for undergraduate students and the Soror Queen Ester
Temple Memorial Scholarship for graduating high school seniors.
In keeping aligned
with our national projects the chapter has held a Judie Davis Bone Marrow donor
sign up and blood donation drive, implemented the Buckle Up America campaign by
distributing information at the annual Martin Luther King Day Parade, developed
the After Baby Care program that reflects the initiatives of Project
Reassurance, given away school supplies via Big Book Bag guideline and held the
annual National Youth Symposium in March.
The Sorors of Zeta Chi
Sigma are proud to be part of the legacy of sophisticated Sigma Women,
across the nation. Members will continue to grow in sisterhood and leadership.
Zeta Chi Sigma members have served as Area Coordinators, as members and chairs
of Regional committees and in other appointed Regional offices.
