Going On A Date

So, you have a big date coming and you are afraid of doing the wrong thing. Relax. Here are a few tips to keep your spirits up.

Making the Date

1. Plan a casual date�based on what both of you enjoy. Make the first date a short one. This gives you an "out" in case the evening is a disaster.

2. Plan to meet at a neutral, public site where both of you will feel comfortable. Be clear about the arrangements. You don't want to get lost now.

3. Drive separately. You'll never know if you want to suddenly bolt.

4. Until "who�s paying" is clarified, stick to affordable events or places.

Preparing for the Date

1. Consider what you and your date will be doing. Plan ahead of time so you know what you are doing when the day finally comes. Example: What to wear.

2. Have a backup plan in mind. You never know when something might go wrong. Make sure you have a plan b to quick make a transition to.

3. Ask your date about his/her hobbies. It makes a great conversation starter.

4. Read the paper or watch the evening news before going out. An awkward silent moment might come up.

5. Do some activity earlier in the day to boost your self-confidence. For example: go for a run, swim, be with friends.

6. Bring money and offer to pay for your share of any restaurant bill or entertainment tickets.

6. Don't just be a talker. Be a listener to. You don't want to start rambling off.
