| Cats of Distinguished Merit
This is the fifth installment in a series about those cats that have earned the title of DM. To earn this title, a female must have produced five cats who have either granded or themselves earned a DM. A male must have produced fifteen cats who have either granded or themselves earned a DM. The title Distinguished Merit was recognized in 1981, but can be gained retroactively via petition to CFA, identifying the qualifying offspring. He had a fantastic personality that he passed on to his offspring as well as his type. He was so prepotent for his outstanding type that even now, 21 years after his birth, breeders still see the �Plus� look on cats today. He is remembered for his outstanding tophead and ears and beautiful big eyes of deepest color. He was also unique in that he �clicked� with many other lines. Many of his offspring were from total outcrosses and until recent years we always outcrossed with females�never males. Surely he would have sired more Grands had we done outside stud service. Though colorbred seven generations, he was bigger and more heavily boned than many of our silvers today. Plus didn�t go to many shows because at that time, with children at home, I went to only very local shows and just exhibited the cats until they granded so he was probably little more than a year old when he was retired. Looking back, I think what a shame it was not to have shown him more. Plus was supposed to go to Japan but we became so attached to him that I couldn�t let him go and sent his brother instead. His personality was so outstanding that he just named himself�Personality Plus. It was a very special litter�another winner in it was GC Diadem Adorable of Sanmar. He was very affectionate and a great �head-butter�; a super stud in that he never met a girl he couldn�t breed, but was very gentle with them being very patient and a great �romancer�. He lived to be about 18 years old and was well and siring up to a couple of months before he died. I don�t think there will ever be another like him and few have made the impact on silvers as has Plus.
