CATS OF DISTINGUISHED MERIT

This is the first in a series about those cats that have earned the title of DM. To earn this title, a female must have produced five cats who have either granded or themselves earned a DM.

GC Danpeg Sony of Silverestate, DM
Breeder: Peggy Thompson
Owner: Kathy Zennaiter

On December 2, 2000, Kathy was absolutely ecstatic the moment Sony achieved the title Distinguished Merit, as she could then breathe a big sigh of relief when GC Silverestate Dimension became the fifth Grand Champion by her Dam, Sony.  This achievement was truly a dream come true for Kathy as it took several years of persistence and hard work to have seven silvers grand.

GC Akristocats Kodak of Silverestate sired GC, RW Silverestate Cover Girl, GC Silverestate Mirage, GC Silverestate Big Shot of River Vista, GC Silverestate Image of Misteeriver, GC Silverestate Calendar Girl, and GC Silverestate Dimensions. Sony bred to GC Hastings Hall Lord Gordon produced GC, BW Silverestate Special Event, who ranks as third Best of Breed Nationally for the show season 2001-2002.

Sony consistently passed on her large round eyes, up-turned nose, nice tophead, heavily boned body and long dripping silky coat to her kittens, as well as her very sweet and mellow personality. You can see Sonys eyes and nose in each one. Sony is a very low-keyed cat and always got along well with the other cats in Kathys home. When Kathy called her name she always answered back as though she was chatting away about the day.

Sony cycled only once a year and naturally that occurred the moment she was in full dripping coat, so Kathy did not take her out into the show ring until she was five years of age. When in the show ring Sony charmed the judges with her sweet, very mellow personality and heavy boning. Kathy always enjoyed showing Sony and her off spring because they were all so relaxed and playful in the show ring. If Kathy were to choose one special trait about Sony it would be her loving personality, which she in turn passed onto her kittens.

Peggy Thompson of Danpeg Cattery bred Sony, and was well-known for producing many lovely silvers. Kathy told Peggy many times that she was going to make Sony a DM, because she so consistently produced nice kittens in each litter.

Sony is now retired and just turned 10 years old on May 21,2002, but looks good enough to show today. Kathy likened Sony to fine wine as she just got better and better with age.  She is loved and admired by all.
