Daily Procedures for Mr. McAdams Math Class
Entering Class:
1] Students will enter class quietly.
2] Each day a student should have 2 sharpened pencils or a mechanical pencil with plenty of lead ready to go. Pencils will be sharpened before taking your seat and definitely before the bell rings.
3] Homework from the previous day will be placed in the basket next to the door as a student enters the classroom.
4] A worksheet for that day will be on a stool next to door and each student will pick one up on their way into the classroom.
5] An assignment will be posted on the overhead as you come in and your job is to begin it IMMEDIATELY when bell rings or sooner.
During Class:
1] No talking during class unless directed to speak in your group or to your neighbor. All of these discussions will be limited to classroom work.
2] During class-wide discussions students will raise their hands to speak and wait until I call upon you before talking.
3] Problem solving will quite often be done in groups or pairs, but if asked to work alone, please do so.
4] Students should stay in their seats and need to raise their hands to ask permission to get up for any reason. No exceptions.
5] All materials used in classroom projects will need to be put back into their containers and left on the desks or set back on a shelf when I direst you to place back where they belong.
In Class Work:
1] Each day our bell-ringer problems will be turned in, as well as other in-class work. It will be placed in a basket on the table, next to the homework basket, when leaving the class.
2] Your name and the date must be on this paperwork to get credit for any in class work.
Using the Lavatory:
1] All students should attempt to use the restroom before coming to class. Exception to this may be made upon the discretion of Mr. McAdam.
2] Only one student at a time will be allowed to use the lavatory on the occasions that I allow it. If this privilege seems to be abused, then no one will use the lavatory during class time, ever.
Group Work:
1] Students will move their desk, when asked, very quietly into small group formations.
2] Students will move all desks back into their original positions at the end of group work or before they leave the class if we finish the period still in groups.
3] Students will keep noise and talking down to appropriate levels during groups sessions.
Homework:
1] Homework will have the following information at the top. On the left: student name, grade and class period. On the right the student will put the day it is due in the upper corner. In the center at the top line will be the section number and problems that I have assigned.
2] Each problem needs to be number clearly and problems should be done in numerical order.
3] All work should be shown, unless otherwise specified that answers alone are allowed.
4] Homework is not only allowed to be done in groups or pairs, but even encouraged. Copying of someone elses work is highly prohibited and will de dealt with severely.
5] Late homework will be accepted, but the word LATE must be written by the student on the paper, even if it is a few days earlier and the due date MUST be in the upper right corner.
