| My name is Catarina Pietri but my nickname is Kathy. I was born in Brazil and came to the US with my family when I was 15 years old. At that time I could not speak English but soon learned. I went to school in New York City where I was living and earned a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brookyn. For my first 15 professional years I was an interior designer, specialing in commercial interiors. Through my many years as a Girl Scouts volunteer I realized that I had a passion for teaching. I decided to combine both my art education, experience, and teaching, by becoming an art teacher. I returned to school and earned a MAT from Norfolk State University. As an educator I have tought at the Boys and Girls Club in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, and Public schools, as well as St. Pius X in Norfolk. I have been an art teacher at St.Gregory The Great since 1997 . |
