| (Updated 10/6) Re: Overrated/Underrated (again) "underrated - Matt McFarland (Crossway Qt) Obviously you heard a lot more from him than I ever did. I think this entire group is highly overrated - no power, no depth & too many tones that are squeezed. Dean Adkins (I always sign what I write too)" Re: Overrated/Underrated "Gospel fans and most music fans don't agree on over-rated and under-rated listings. I'll be honest and say I don't have the ear to judge musically who is better but I know what I like. I think Roy Pauley does have that ear even if you disagree with his trend to favor older styles. Nevertheless in his list of top seven tenors a few months ago Jerry Martin came in at #7 which seems about right to me, trailing people like David Phelps, Larry Ford and John Rulapagh (Pauley's #1). I think Martin has improved since joining the Doves. As For Mcray, Pauley loves his voice which harkens back to singers like Ed Enoch. He isn't the best lead, but his enthusiasim and his ability to get the best out of others (how did Eric Dove get so good and where was the David Hester we now hear hiding?) Agree on Mike Holcomb as overrated bass. Hester and Tim Duncan are my current favorites. I have a hard time picking baritones. I'm enjoying this various SGM Blogs." NJG Re: "Avery's" gender "Interesting new site. How convinced are you that "Avery" is actually male?" SV Dear SV, to be honest I'm not even convinced that "Avery" is human. He/She/It is like a machine with those blogs. "Avery" is a just a blogging machine. Re: General feedback "S.G. Blahger, How is that for a name....good to have another blog to read..this should be interesting. Tell me, what do yo hope to accomplish? or it it just a place to frely express your opinion?" AC Well AC, to answer you question, it is the latter. Just a place to freely express my opinion. I'm not big on accomplishments, or anything lofty like that. Never been one for setting many goals, I'm actually kind of lazy I guess. Thanks for asking though. Re: My first e-mails "Dear SGblahger, although you weren't the first, your site is still inetersting to read. I'll keep checking back." "This is actually pretty interesting, a counter-point to the counter point (Mr. Avery Fineling). I haven't really found myself in 100% agreement with either on of you, but both sites have unique points of veiw. Keep it coming." PL Re: Font choices "Your font color choice is horrible. It makes it very painful to read that lime green text, you need to change it. You'll get more return visits I think if you do." JT |
