The top photo is one of the set of potholders I made for my friend
Ryan as a housewarming gift for his
new house. It was made using Aunt Lydia's two-strand bedspread
cotton (two strands of size 10 thread wrapped
around each other making a size ~3 thread). The bottom two were
made using Sinfonia sport cotton for my new
Milwaukee kitchen. I loved using the Sinfonia -- it made an extra
thick potholder that is still flexible and
easy to use. One of my concerns with handmade potholders is that
they be thick enough to offer good protection,
but not be so thick that you can't feel what you're doing when using
one. This pattern using Sinfonia really fits
the bill -- these are pretty potholders that I actually use!!
