Speaking after his 6th retirement in 14 races at Spa Franchorchamps, Jarno Trulli has hit out at the relaibility of his Jordan Honda EJ11. This season's Jordan car has on occasion proven its pace but lacks the staying power needed to achieve its deserved results.
The Italian says that there are so many problems with the car that no matter how hard he fights, he always seems to miss out.
"It has been a long season," said Trulli, who swaps seats with Benettons Giancarlo Fisichella next season. "We had several mechanical problems and every time, there seems to be something different going wrong at the moment.
"It is bad luck on my part, because I feel I am doing all I can and then everything is over, and not because of me. Today, I was having a very good race. My overtaking was aggressive and I drove superbly, but the car didnt last again.
"At one point I overtook two cars Jacques Villeneuve and Jean Alesi so I was pulling away from everyone. But at the end of the race the engine gave up. I knew it was happening because it wouldnt push anymore and then it died. It was not a nice feeling."
Jarno will, however, have been heartened to see the much improved performance at the Spa race from the Benetton car. Fisichella scored a brilliant podium, holding off the McLaren of Coulthard for much of the race.
