18th May - Jarno speaks about his Austria debacle.

Following his early exit from the Austria Grand Prix, Jarno took spent some time explaining his start and subsequent disqualification to Autosport.

Q: What exactly happened to you at the start?
JT: It was just that the launch control didnt work properly, and when it was time to start, it stalled the engine. It worked until you had to release the clutch, basically, and the clutch just stalled the engine.

Q: And the same for Heinz?
JT: Yes, exactly the same. When you stall the engine there is a control, the anti-stall. It worked on his car, but it blew up the gearbox when he shifted up to first. I dont know exactly what happened, but on my car it didnt work at all.

Q: Was it some kind of software glitch?
JT: Settings, lets say. We had a problem with settings, because in the morning I reported that we could have this problem. I never stalled, but I said we have many chances to stall.

Q: You didnt have a problem in Spain...
JT: Yes, but unfortunately it wasnt the same system, and they didnt choose that system for this race. I wanted the previous one. You just have to set up the system - its very easy. But unfortunately I tested the new system only here, so I couldnt really do a lot about it.

Q: And in the end you got disqualified because you didnt see the lights at the pit exit?
JT: I saw all the lights! But they sent me out, and just told me to ignore it. Probably they didnt see it or they didnt realise. There were red lights and flashing blue lights, so you have to wait. But the team said, Go, go go'.

Q: Were you annoyed when you found out you were disqualified?
JT: Well, the race was over for me.

Q: Monaco was obviously good for you last year. Its going to be difficult to qualify second again, but do you think you can do well?
JT: Well see. Its another race, but you cannot say that you can go to Monaco and do a good race. At Monaco youre driving around walls and guardrails, so you might have some problems or mistakes or whatever. Its going to be interesting. You just have to see if the car is competitive enough.

Q: Will the traction control make it easier for everyone?
JT: Yes, but well see.
