Jarno Trulli and Ricardo Zonta today began a three day test with Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda at Silverstone in warm and dry conditions.
Both drivers had a productive day with Trulli posting the fastest lap time of 1:23.14, completing 61 laps and Zonta finishing fourth fastest with 1:24.27, finishing 77 laps.
This morning the team spent considerable time making the drivers comfortable with the HANS device, which is mandatory for this test, then concentrated on general chassis set-up in preparation for the British Grand Prix in July. Zonta and Trulli ended the day with a tyre test programme for Bridgestone, with very positive results.
Fresh from his racing debut for Jordan at the Canadian Grand Prix, Zonta is standing in at this test for Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who is resting at home following two accidents in Monaco and Montreal which have left him feeling unwell.
Zonta commented, It was a good day testing although the track was very dirty so we had to make changes in the morning and try some different set-ups. In the afternoon we ran out of time and had to shift our attention to tyre testing. I would like to have spent more time on set-up and brake balance work, but it was a productive day for us.
