Heinz-Harald Frentzen is reported to be about to sue Eddie Jordan for 13 million for his wrongful dismissal. Frentzen is embittered about the way in which he was booted out of the team mid-season after things between the pair "came to a head after the British Grand Prix" as Jordan put it at the time.
Heinz-Harald, the most successful Jordan driver in the team's history, has already held discussions with his lawyers and is expected to open legal proceedings against Jordan following this weekend's German Grand Prix.
Apart from the wrongful dismissal charge he is also expected to sue for the damage done to his reputation as a Formula One driver.
On Saturday, the German told the News of the World, "What has been alleged is completely untrue. Obviously Eddie Jordan felt it was within his rights to use a certain part of the contract. But that is not substantiated whatsoever and we have refuted it completely. We asked him to withdraw the termination and he refused.
"We have no choice but to protect our rights and that's exactly what we are doing. It's an extremely serious situation because we have a Formula One driver who is not driving, even though he has 18 months of his contract to run."
Frentzen was tipped to replace Allan McNish as team-mate to Toyota driver Mika Salo for next season but Toyota boss Ove Andersson has refuted all speculation to date. Frentzen now fears that no F1 team will show interest in him after the damage done to his reputation following the Jordan incident.
