Not surprisingly, many of the banners at the German Grand Prix were not that complimentary about Eddie Jordan or his team. "Jordan Go Home," declared one banner and seeing his teams performance Eddie probably wishes he had.
Germany was never going to be a particularly welcoming country for a Formula One team who sacked their German driver in the week of the German Grand Prix. Many of the Jordan banners had big crosses through them, others just wanted their favourite driver to return, "Heinz Come Back," said some.
And, no doubt to the satisfaction of many, Jordan endured their worst weekend of the season with two non-finishes following up their weakest qualifying performance of the year.
On Saturday, Brazilian Ricardo Zonta had qualified 15th on the grid, two places below Frentzen's worst effort of the season.
In the race, Zonta collided with Dutchman Jos Verstappen on lap 6, ripping off his front wing in a race the Brazilian had hoped would allow him to impress the team sufficiently to get a drive as Frentzen's replacement beyond the weekend. Unfortunately, this weekend he will have impressed no one.
Trulli span while attempting to overtake BARs Olivier Panis and dropping from ninth to 17th place on lap 12, he then suffered a hydraulic pump failure some laps later.
Eddie Jordan watched the grisly picture unravel from the pit wall. "This weekend has been a nightmare and hopefully marks the end of a period of time we want to put behind us.
