The F1 'silly season' is now in full swing and as a result there have been rumours in the internet press recently that Heinz-Harald Frentzen may announce his retirement from Formula 1 in the next few weeks and would then leave the sport immediately.
The 34-year-old German has endured one of his most frustrating seasons to date with numerous mechanical problems as well as a major crash in the Monaco Grand Prix that left him with suspected bruising on the brain, missing the Canadain race as a consequence. The rumour has suggested that this injury has led him to make the decision to bring a curtain down on his career.
It goes on to suggest that Ricardo Zonta, the team's current test driver, would step up to a full-time race drive, with the exciting young Japanese driver, Takuma Sato, taking over as test driver.
Heinz-Harald's management company, Eurosport Promotions Management, have said that although they are aware of the rumours, there is absolutely no truth in themand Heinz-Harald will see out his current contract with Jordan, to the end of the 2002 season, at least.
