11th August - Major chassis revisions due for Hungary.

Jordan will introduce a major revision of the EJ11 chassis for the high downforce Hungary Grand Prix on August 19th.

The modifications are said to include an entirely new aerodynamic package along with significant improvement to some internal components. The changes are so substantial that the team has given the chassis the designation, EJ11B.

Jordan launched an EJ10B half way through last season. The revisions were definitely improvements, but not enough to make a big difference to the teams points total they had slipped to a miserable 6th in the constructors championship by the seasons end.
Again in 2001, the team find themselves in 6th place and will be looking to the dual introduction of the EJ11B chassis and new driver, Jean Alesi to make the difference with Sauber and 4th place, the target.

The timing could not have been more unfortunate however. Due to the current compulsory ban on testing, the EJ11B will have to be taken to Hungary untested. As a result, the team are expected to take two standard EJ11s equipped with the existing high downforce package, along with two of the new EJ11Bs to the Hungaroring.

Fridays free practice sessions will be used as an evaluation session for the EJ11B. If the chassis does not prove to be what the team believes is an improvement, they will revert back to the standard EJ11 set-up.
Only having one driver with experience of the old chassis must be a hindrance, however. Jarnos feedback will be all important in the decision making process.
