Takuma Sato will line up on the front row of the grid for this Sundays Macau Grand Prix.
The young Japanese star, driving a Dallara F301 Mugen Honda, finished the two qualifying sessions in second place, just 0.079sec behind Swede, Bjorn Wirdheim and is in a great position to repeat his 1999 race triumph.
The line up for the 48th International F3 Macau Grand Prix boasts some of the most competitive and talented F3 drivers that the event has ever seen, with Sato being the first F1 contracted driver to compete at this famous race for sixteen years.
Sato goes to Macau, a small Island off Hong Kong, with unfinished business. Having won 12 out of the 13 British F3 races this season, Sato commented at Suzuka in October, Macau is the big one for sure. My final target of this year is obviously to win there.
With such great expectations placed on the young Japanese star, has it added to the pressure he feels? People are saying a lot of things about me because I am a Formula 1 driver racing at Macau, commented Sato, but honestly, it doesnt add any pressure at all. Although I have got my F1 deal, I am still a Formula 3 driver. I know in the past some F3 champions have avoided Macau because people expect them to win, and if they dont then it opens them up to criticism. But this is not my way of thinking. I just want to race.
