30th November - George Harrison - a true F1 fan.

George and James Hunt in 1975
The death of former Beatle George Harrison is a sad event for those who recall his frequent visits to the Jordan team at races, and particularly for Eddie Jordan, who has said George was both a friend and inspiration.

Many regular visitors to this site will know the problems we have with the continual line of minor B list celebrities spending time in the Jordan pits, causing disruptions and distractions on race weekend and not having the slightest appreciation of the sport we love so well.
George Harrison was not one of those. On many occasions he spent race weekends in the company of the Jordan team, but had a deep passion and understanding for the sport. At a Grand Prix, he was an F1 fan first and a celebrity second.

George had a close relationship with many in the Formula 1 world, especially Jackie Stewart and Eddie Jordan. Eddie commented The team and I will miss George because he was a wonderful supporter and he had a great presence and vibe. My passion for music and his for motor racing, particularly Formula One, often coincided and I spent time at his recording studios which I will never forget. He was a private man and someone whose company I enjoyed thoroughly.

As a mark of respect, the flags at Jordans Silverstone headquarters are being flown at half mast.

George Harrison was only 58 and died at a friends home in Los Angeles yesterday following a long battle with cancer. Along with everyone at Jordan, the Jordan Grand Prix Information Page extends its sympathy to his wife, Olivia, and son Dhani.
