CHAPTER II: FIRST BLOOD

Planet Earth, an open field in the Paozu Mountains
Trunks and Goten were sparring. Trunks was letting out an assault that Goten was blocking move for move. But Trunks was able to finally launch a punch into Goten's face, knocking him to the ground. But Goten was able to counter attack by kicking Trunks in the stomach sending the purple haired Saiyan flying into a tree.
"Ah...good move, Goten." said Trunks, getting up while rubbing his back where he'd hit the tree.
"Thanks. You should watch out, you made yourself wide open for it." said Goten, smirking.
"I'll be sure to remember that. Starting now." With that Trunks charged again.

He watched the figures as they fought with one another. The one called Trunks looked exactly like the pictures he'd seen of him, except taller. The one called Goten looked the same as well, though it looked as if he'd been letting his hair grow out. What were originally points looking just like his father's hair were starting to droop down.
He knew what he had to do and he wasn't going to hesitate. Not if his plan was to come to fruition.
He extended his hand out as if to reach out for Trunks. His hand emitted a few small sparks. A ki blast formed in his hand.
He fired.

Goten watched as Trunks prepared another charge when suddenly a large ki blast came from nowhere and engulfed Trunks. It came so quickly that Trunks couldn't even let out a shout.
Goten powered up in an instant and charged the source of the beam. Goten saw a dark figure behind some bushes. But Goten didn't get far before a black object came from him and stabbed him in his right shoulder, stopping him in mid-flight.
As he fell to the ground he looked up and saw the face of the person who attacked them. The one thing he noticed especially was the creature's cold, blood red eyes.
The figure disappeared as silently as he had appeared. Goten looked to his friend and saw a bloody figure lying on the ground. He knew no matter what, Trunks would die before any help got here, assuming he wasn't gone already. Goten knew he at least had to survive. He rolled onto his back, the wound in his shoulder throbbing with every motion he made. When he finally got onto his back he held up his hand and shot a ki beam as powerful as he could manage straight into the air. He had one last thought before he finally blacked out.
I'll get 'im for ya, Trunks. I promise.

"This is a great lunch Chichi."
"Thank you, Goku."
Son Goku was enjoying a meal at his home when he suddenly felt a ki charge up. He looked out his window to see a beam in the sky. He had a pretty good feeling that something was wrong. He got up and used his Instantaneous Movement to go to where he saw the beam originate before his wife Chichi could even ask what he was doing.
When he got there, he saw Goten and Trunks lying in the ground. Goten's breathing was shallow and he had a fist-sized hole in his chest. Trunks wasn't moving at all. Goku knew that this was more than a training accident. But for now he had to get Trunks and Goten to Capsule Corp. where Bulma would hopefully be able to help them.
