| Mission: Jack's Missing | ||||
| Headline: Noted Air Force Colonel Jonathan O'Neill was aboard the cruise ship Miracle when it and its compliment of over 2000 disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle. The ship is just the latest in a long line of strange disappearances in recent years. The newest ship in the Carnival family sailed on Sunday the 16th for a seven day (not three hour) cruise due to return to the US on May 23rd. Rescue parties including many Air Force Personnel (but oddly no NID) are conducting comprehensive searches for the missing ship. We will keep you abreast as the search continues. This is Teri with CNN Headline News saying, "Bon Voyage!" Daniel switches off the television. "Oh Jack..." he thinks. This is not good at all Picks up the phone, calls Sam and Jonas to see what they thought of the news and if they'd like to meet up at the local coffee spot and discuss the news. "Hey Daniel." Sam answered as she picked up the phone. "Yeah I heard that too...you contact Jonas and lets all meet in my lab its more secured than the coffee spot. After being contacted by Daniel, Jonas, being a resident of Cheyenne Mountain Complex, leapt up from his room and hurriedly made his way to Sam's lab. He had been watching CNN... He got bored with the Weather Channel, so he had decided on world news. On his way to Sam's lab, a certain Lieutenant Rush winked at him, but the Langarian paid no heed; in any normal circumstances, he would have flirted. Now, five minutes later, Jonas Quinn was standing in Sam's lab...Well; he was leaning over one of the tables, drumming his fingers lightly. Jonas frowned. He had seen Colonel O'Neill that fateful day, the sixteenth. Today was the twenty-first, two days before the ship was to have arrived back in the United States. This Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, was known to have certain 'magical powers; at least, that's what the weird people of this world believed. Of course, the skeptics on this world would probably stone them, the SG teams, to death for their wild beliefs about a two story metal ring that has flashy lights and goes ka-whoosh. Jonas remembered the Colonel telling him about the time, before the original Abydos mission, where Daniel had given a lecture and was walked out on. Jonas seriously hoped the Colonel would be okay... And, he also hoped the three of them could go out there and help with the search. "More secure than a coffee spot," Daniel muttered after hanging up his cell-phone. "But I need coffee." Decidedly,-after getting into his silver Mercanda- he stopped at the local coffee shop for a second anyways. --- Getting a coffee for himself, Sam and Jonas... But not for Janet because she was supposed to be doing some sort of chaperoning thing for Cassie's school. It may have been cancelled. While on the subject, he wondered if Tealc had gotten back from visiting family in Chulak yet. He missed the guy. "I hope Jack is alright..." Daniel thought out load as he pulled into Cheyenne. Jonas now sat on a stool at the center table. He continued to drum his fingers on the metal surface with one hand, and proceeded to play with a stray piece of paper with the other. Sighing, he stopped drumming and began to make an Origami crane. A little something he picked up when he browsed the Cheyenne Mountain Library; though why they had a book on Origami was beyond him. 'I hope Daniel is bringing coffee,' Jonas thought to himself as he busied himself with making the crane. It's made out of one of Sam's schematics! Using his careful balancing skills that he learned pre-Stargate, Daniel stumbled up the hallway towards Sam's Lab with the three coffees and three scrolls of maps. He wondered briefly if Jonas would be there already -probably- But wondered if he'd made it there before Sam. Entering the Lab, he noted a rather deep-in-thought Jonas just before he tripped over a piece of something and sent the coffee flying into the Kelownan. Racing into her lab, Sam was only able to watch in horror as cups of coffee flew across the room and soaked Jonas plus a lot of her papers and doohickeys...'when did I start calling my work doohickeys? Must be all the time spent with the Colonel.' Walking over to the two members of her team she got straight to business. "Ok guys clean up the mess while I bring you up to speed on what I just found out. We got word of the Colonels disappearance at 0645 this morning. This news is several hours delayed so I am estimating the time of disappearance at 0100. I am suspecting Mayborn may be involved. Also I just came from a briefing with General Hammond and my dad. Apparently the Tok'ra came into contact with a rogue agent. This has to have something to do with the disappearance. We are heading out at 1930hrs tonight. Teal'c is still away so Dad volunteered to come with so we didn't have to interrupt Teal'cs vacation." "Sorry Jonas," Daniel said, wiping a drop of coffee from Jonas' nose. "Are you alright?" Jonas sputtered a bit, taking a handkerchief out of his pocket. "I'm fine... It's just... A bit hot... He pulled at his soaked-in-scalding-liquid clothes, grimacing. He took off his jacket, which had absorbed most of the blast, and placed it on his stool. "Did you say NID? I thought all the rogue cells had been taken care of?" Jonas said this while frowning a bit, and brows furrowed. The team was now gathered in SG1's Locker Room gathering gear. "Guys did you remember to stop by the armory and collect earth based weapons only? Because I am taking one zat with me and I think Dad is taking one too but I dont want too many out there with us." As Sam finished dressing she grabbed her gear and headed for the armory and to find her dad. Left standing alone with Jonas, Daniel regarded the man. "We should go to the armory. Or something," he said with ease. He took out his own handkerchief-- blue and green striped cotton one-- and put it into Jonas' hand. "You got some in your hair." Jonas blinked and accepted the handkerchief. "Erm... Thanks." He scrubbed his head fast and immediately returned the piece of cloth back to its owner. "I, ah... I forgot something in my locker... With that, the Langarian practically sprinted to his locker and dawdled there. "Oh, yes... Erm... Here it is... He pulled out a random thing and closed the locker again. "Let's, ah... Go join the others... He blinked again and walked out of the locker room, heading towards the Armory. Daniel looked up as Jonas entered the armory. The Kelownan looked rather... ruffled and out of breath. Daniel had gone to the armory after Quinn's hastily, abrupt departure. Daniel, pulling a Tealc, raised an eyebrow. "Jonas, are you feeling well?" Jonas gulped a bit. "Fine. I'm fine. Er... Hey! How did you get here before I did? Weren't you... After I... And he blinked, very much confused! "After you what?" Daniel asked, innocently, "While you were collecting stuff from your locker, I came here." Daniel raised his hands to show the pair of handguns to his companion. He started to pass one of them to Jonas, but then pulled his hand back, teasingly. "Are you sure you're okay?" Ok Dad why dont you tell Daniel and Jonas what you were telling me a few minutes ago "What I was telling you about Jack?" Jacob looks confused for a moment. "You mean you want me to tell them that I would be proud if you and he were to get ma . . . ." Sam cut him off quickly saying . . . "Dad! No I was referring to the mission. You had some intel." "Oh, right." Jacob smiled a little embarrassed. "The Bermuda Triangle is not a recognized geographic location. It is am imaginary area located off the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States which is noted for a high incidence of unexplained losses of ships, small boats, aircraft, and even a car. The apexes of the triangle are generally accepted to be Bermuda, Miami, FL, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Triangle is also known as the Devil's Triangle or HooDoo Sea. Some disappearances included a squadron of TBM Avengers, and the sinking of the USS Cyclops and the Marine Sulphur Queen. There is a similar area of magnetic disturbance of the coast of Japan known as the Devil's sea." "The Triangle is one of the two places on earth that a magnetic compass does point towards true north rather than magnetic north, a problem for navigation officers. Another factor is the swift and turbulent nature of the Gulf Stream which goes through the Caribbean-Atlantic weather patterns." "Of course, there are theories that range from an Alien landing site to the loss city of Atlantis to account for the unusual area." "Ok guys we have a transport to catch. Move out." With that Major Carter lead the trio of men out to the C4 that would be taking them out to rescue Colonel O'Neill. As the planes crew went through pre flight Sam spoke with her farther, "Dad I can't believe you were going to say that in front of the guys. What were you thinking?" Jacob looked up at his daughter embarrassed. "I wasn't?" In his mind he heard a laugh, Still trying to play match maker you old reprobate?" Selmac thought. "Well," he returned in his mind. "Someone has to give those two a push." Daniel walked up and joined the conversation. |
