Bucky Kaluha: I can’t believe we’re giving this one away for free, Zahn! And what’s this Beans of Blood thing? Timmy Zahn: It’s a feature film starring- The houselights cut out. TZ: Looks like we’re getting this party started. The Jumbotron abruptly cuts to static. “The Antipop” by Primus begins blaring over the PA. Blue pyro erupts from the sides of the entrance ramp, and from around the entryway. Brian Bowers emerges from the entryway, as the Jumbotron begins showing a montage of his greatest moments in the SFWL, culminating with him standing on the turnbuckle, holding the SFWL World Heavyweight title over his head. Kate Elliot is close behind Bowers, following him as he slowly makes his way down the entrance ramp and into the ring. Brian Bowers is dressed in new khakis and his familiar maroon construction boots, along with a black t-shirt with red Japanese lettering printed on the front. His hair, previously shoulder-length, has been buzz-cut, and his goatee reduced to a soul patch and a day’s worth of shadow. Kate Elliot is dressed in her usual attire of khakis and ankle-high Doc Martens boots, and wearing the same t-shirt as Bowers. Her normally unkempt hair is pulled back in a ponytail, and she’s sporting a barcode tattoo on her upper right arm.Bowers is met with a mixed reaction as he approaches the ring. The houselights fade back up, and the music cuts out. TZ: It’s been so long since these fans have seen Brian Bowers in an SFWL ring that they’re not even sure how to react! Brian Bowers calls for a mic. Brian Bowers: You know, I don’t blame you for not giving a shit that I’m out here right now. It’s not that I CARE, mind you, but I understand where you’re coming from. It’s been a long time since I did anything of note, and I’m just taking valuable time away from what you REALLY want to see. You don’t want to see Brian Bowers, two-time SFWL World Heavyweight champion. You don’t want to see Brian Bowers, the best technical wrestler in the SFWL. No, you want to see all your favorites playing out the same skits and putting on the same matches that they have at every show for the past fucking year. You want to see the same bullshit that’s foisted on you day in and day out. You WANT your intelligence insulted, because that’s what you’ve been carefully trained to expect...to fucking CRAVE! You all jump up on cue, slapping your hands together and barking like a bunch of fucking seals! (The crowd has started booing Bowers emphatically.) Brian Bowers: They throw out the stimulus, and you provide the desired response! A couple more months worth of programming, and they won’t need to put on wrestling matches at all! Why bother, when they can train you to cheer for shit that you would have booed out of the building twelve short months ago! And you know what? It’s MY fault! I LET all of this happen! When you were slowly being reprogrammed to FORGET what it’s like to really be entertained, to FORGET what a REAL wrestling match is, where was I? What was I doing? I was at home sitting on my ass, or, when I WAS working, I was involved in pointless lower mid-card programs. I broke up the NLWE...so fucking WHAT!? While I was doing that, the entire upper card...to say NOTHING of the midcard...went straight to hell. Just look at your world heavyweight champion...Chris fucking Steele! A man so spectacularly average in every respect we could bring Evan Karagias in, change his theme music, and no-one would notice the difference! The SFWL World Heavyweight Champion is SUPPOSED to be the best in the business, not the wrestler who happens to have the fewest glaring self-destructive flaws! Chris Steele SHOULD be a second-string contender for the for the World Tag Team titles right now, not leading this federation! But what have I done about all of this? Nothing! Without me here, you didn’t REALIZE how far the SFWL had fallen! Without ME, the only REAL professional wrestler in this entire fucking company, you forgot what REAL wrestling WAS! You didn’t have any CHOICE other than to accept what was being foisted on you! I’m the CONSCIENCE of this federation...the ONLY thing that keeps it from lapsing into complete and utter absurdity, and I’ll be the first to admit that I have NOT been doing my job. 2001 was one of the worst years for my professional career, and it’s no coincidence that it was ALSO one of the worst years in the history of the SFWL. In 1998, I was the undisputed rookie of the year in the SFWL, going from the indys to the Intercontinental championship in the span of three months. Strangely enough, that also marked the beginning of a VERY significant upswing in the SFWL’s success. In 1999, I held the SFWL World Heavyweight title twice, I held countless other belts, and I was main eventing at LEAST one of the two TV shows every week, along with a significant number of pay-per-views. It’s no coincidence that 1999 was also one of the BEST – if not THE best – years the SFWL has ever had. In 2000, my career took a significant downturn, and continuing the pattern, the SFWL went downhill with it. And then there’s 2001 – and the less said about that, the better. 2001 is the year that I was – and I freely admit this – reduced to a lower midcarder. The high point of last year for me was yet another aborted program with Chris Lupsa, and that pretty much says it all right there. And what did 2001 bring the SFWL as a whole? More shocking swerves, turns and reformations within Bastards Incorporated, the “edgy and controversial” Paine stealing spots from Camille Ztdetelik, Chris Steele and Shin Mebadazz being elevated to main event level, The Grimm Reaper once again rising to the top of the federation based solely on his phenomenal ability to be seven-foot-three, the returns of at least half a dozen enhancement talents of years past and their failed last-ditch attempts to get over, the outright death of the Cruiserweight and Tag Team titles...and me just sitting back and letting it all happen. What ambition I DID have was, as I already said, directed at the worst possible targets. While I was wasting my time resolving petty grudges at the bottom of the card, everything above me fell apart. I was the last best hope for the SFWL, and I failed. And you know who’s going to suffer the most because of my failure? Me. If this trend continues, I’ll be trying to live off of my downside guarantee until the inevitable announcement that the SFWL is closing its doors outright...and just look at the working environment I have to deal with UNTIL then! But I do NOT plan to LET this trend continue. Now, I know what you’re all thinking – and I’m not surprised that you are. “Bowers is all talk – this is just going to end up as another feud with Ash, or something equally pointless”. Unfortunately, I’ve given you REASON to think just that. Too many times I’ve come out here, announced some great plan to save my career and rebuild this federation in the process, only to end up right back where I started, less three months of my life. This time, though, it’s going to be different. It HAS to be. This is my last shot – this is the SFWL’S last shot – at regaining any kind of credibility. This time, I have two things driving me: desperation...and hope. There have been many desperate times for me in the SFWL, but this is the first time that I’ve genuinely had hope; that I’ve honestly believed that I CAN rebuild this federation. TZ: Bowers’ absence certainly hasn’t affected his delusions of grandeur. Brian Bowers: If I may lapse into heel cliché for a moment, I’d like to tell you all what I got for Christmas. Technically, I got it three days beforehand; and, granted, I didn’t get it intentionally, but I appreciate it nonetheless. On December 22nd, 2001, Kate managed to obtain a copy of the updated SFWL roster. There was one name that did not appear on that roster – and that name was Uncle Filthy. It seems that the developmental contract given to Glenn Purchase – a contract which left him vulnerable to the whims of the creative department, who for whatever reason wanted to dress him up like a scarecrow, send him to the ring with a man in a monkey suit, and instruct him that every sentence he spoke must be either offensive or nonsensical – was not renewed. As insignificant as this seems, this led me to an epiphany of sorts. The release of Uncle Filthy, a character who served as a living insult to every SFWL employee and fan, shows that there is at least ONE person on the board who still CARES what happens to the SFWL, who DOESN’T want to see it degenerate into complete self-parody. There is at least ONE person in power here who just MIGHT believe that there are some benefits to actually running a WRESTLING company, rather than throwing six hours of Riki-Oh!–meets–Mad-TV on television every week. The release of Uncle Filthy isn’t much, but it IS a positive sign. It’s a sign that there is at least ONE executive who still gives a shit. But, more importantly, it’s a sign that there is still hope – however infinitesimal – for the SFWL. But that hope is not going to be realized without a LOT of help...help that only I can provide. As I have already said, I’m the one who let the SFWL all this far, and I’M the only one who can bring it back. People like me – intelligent, rational, talented human beings – are a real rarity in the SFWL these days. As one of those elite few, it is MY responsibility to rebuild what I have allowed to be destroyed. (To Bowers’ visible frustration, several fans have started chanting “What?” every time he pauses. Others have begun a “shut the hell up” chant”. One lone wise-ass is chanting "Goldberg".) Brian Bowers: See, that’s a major part of the problem right there! You pay good money to be here, and what do you do? Chant the competition’s catchphrases! Harass the ONE person who’s willing to go to bat for you, for the SFWL, for WRESTLING, instead of getting out his fiddle and relaxing by the fire! ANYTHING to look cool, in the hopes that, for a brief second, those cameras will be pointed at you! And why shouldn’t you? You don’t have any REASON to give a shit about the show the SFWL’s putting on – and this has been going on for so long that none of you KNOW any better than to do what you’re doing right now. Well, that’s all going to change. It’s not going to happen overnight, but it IS going to happen – by sheer effort and force of will, I’m going to retrain each and every one of you, I’m going to UNDO the damage that being an SFWL fan in the year 2001 has done to you. Like it or not, you are going to be retrained, taught to appreciate professional wrestling as it SHOULD be! When you see Brian Bowers, you are going to see WRESTLING, and you’re going to learn, by repetition if by nothing else, to fucking APPRECIATE it! As I return this federation to its former glory, I will turn all of you into REAL fans again. A lot of you are going to have to be dragged kicking and screaming, but ultimately, it’s what’s best for all of us. (The previously competing chants have merged into one massive “fuck off and die” chant, echoing throughout the arena.) Brian Bowers: It’s perfectly normal to fear change. Most of you were afraid when you saw the SFWL start to go downhill last year, and you eventually came to accept that. Now you can’t remember ever living any other way. This will be no different, except that, when all is said and done, we will all be BETTER off. How appropriate that tonight, on the fifth anniversary of the SFWL’s founding, in the arena where it all began, marks the dawning of this new era...the new era that I, along with my associates, will usher in! And yes, there are others. While they may not have my ability, my focus, my devotion to the cause, there are others in this league who feel the same way. In the coming weeks, they will be revealed, they will join us in rebuilding the SFWL. We are Shin Jun Rui – we are New Human Beings – and 2002 will be OUR year! (The same Japanese lettering – apparently the characters for ‘Shin Jun Rui’ – which appears on Bowers’ t-shirt slowly fades in through the static on the Jumbotron as Bowers, and Elliot leave the ring area amid a chorus of boos.) TZ: Looks like Brian Bowers is coming back to the SFWL in a big way. BK: Please...he’ll end up fighting Danny DeCosta or some crap like that. New Human Beings...feh...bet he’s wearing the Same Dirty Underwear, though. TK: Um...okay. Are first match of the night is a tag team match-up between The Ruffnecks and The Mexican Jumping Beans! This ought to be a thriller. BK: What? You’re kidding, right? This contest is a no-DQ-no-countout-no-time-limit-tag team match Introducing first... At a total combined weight of 597 pounds... [The camera picks up on a shot of one of the men's restrooms situated in theKey Center. Cinco II is slowly getting to his feet, his face contorted in a grimace of pain. He rests one hand against the side of the stalls as hetries to keep his weight off one of his legs. As he is nearly to his feet, the stall door flies open catching him squarely in the head. Jack Schittleaps out of the stall and begins delivering a series of rights to the headof Cinco II.] TZ: What the hell? Did this match start without us? BK: If so, where the hell is the referee? Jack Schitt drags Cinco II up by the hair. Jack Schitt puts Cinco II's head in the toilet bowl. Jack Schitt flushes the toilet. Jack Schitt pulls out a very wet Cinco II and brings him over to the sink. Jack Schitt: You call this a challenge? Huh? Your pathetic! Jack Schitt throws Cinco II face first into the mirror over the sink. The mirror breaks. Cinco II is busted wide open. Jack Schitt: I'm sorry. Did I get glass in your eye? Here. Jack Schitt bends Cinco II backwards over the sink, and turns the hot water on over his face. Cinco II is screaming in agony. Jack Schitt: You know what? That might get infected, lucky for you I gotsomething. Cinco II has a worried look on his face. Jack Schitt pulls a clear bottle out of a plastic bag. Jack Schitt: Well, they were all out of peroxide, but I figured rubbin'alcohol's the same right? Ha ha! Jack Schitt pours the bottle of rubbing alcohol all over the cuts on CincoII's face. Cinco II drops to the floor and is writhing in agony. Ann 2: Oh my GOD! Cinco II could be blinded by that alcohol! Jack Schitt: Cinco! HEY CINCO! Damn, better start the ten count. Jack Schitt kicks Cinco II in the ribs. Jack Schitt: ONE! Jack Schitt kicks Cinco II again. Jack Schitt: TWO! TZ: I guess Jack Schitt is the referee, he's giving Cinco II a ten count! Jack Schitt continues as the fans count along. THREE! FOUR! FIVE! SIX! SEVEN! EIGHT! NINE! Jack Schitt pauses for a moment as the audience jumps the gun and counts ten. Jack Schitt just throws the plastic alcohol bottle at Cinco II. Jack Schitt: Too bad Cinco, looks like you didn't quite make it. Welllet's go to ringside and get a few words from the champ! Jack Schitt walks over to another stall and picks up the Extreme Title beltthat was hanging over the door. [Metallica's "The House that Jack Built" precedes the entrance of JackSchitt. Jack Schitt is getting a mixed reaction from the fans at ringside as he makes his way down the aisle.] Jack Schitt: So was that hardcore enough for you? WHAT? TZ: Oh no. Didn't he already do this last week? Jack Schitt: I said, was that hardcore enough for you? Fans: WHAT! TZ: Oh come on not them too. Didn't he get fired for promoting the competition once? Jack Schitt: WAS THAT HARD-CORE ENOUGH FOR YOU! Jack Schitt: Well, it wasn't hardcore enough me. Cinco II is just not hardcore enough for me. The SFWL just isn't hardcore enough for Jack Schitt! And I told you by tonight there was going to be hell to pay in the SFWL for pissing me off! And what pisses me off more than anything else. Is the SORRY, PATHETIC excuse that the SFWL has for talent. I mean volumes have already been said about our [makes quotes with his fingers] World Champion, Chris Steele [cheers] SHUT UP! [boos] And then we are supposed to believe that after months of trying to literally kill one another, Mike Torment and Paine are on the same page? AND that the Rest of Bastards Inc.,so distraught after being abandoned by their leader, have suddenly tossed months of carefully planned backstabbing right out the window, well someone find me a wookie on Endor, because this DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! BK: Hey, I think Jack Schitt is using the Chewbacca defense! TZ: Somehow I don't think you can call that taking the intellectual high ground. Jack Schitt: Oh, and boo hoo, Paine doesn't get the Intercontinental Title shot that he wanted! What about what I wanted; what about a decentchallenger for my title? What about me? What about Jack. You know what, that just got me thinking. Even though a FORMER Extreme Champion like Paine doesn't want anything to do with the King of Extreme, just because he doesn't want to try and reclaim any lost glory, even though Paine is SCAREDof Jack Schitt all is good. Because a little bit of unfinished business came to light earlier this evening. As I listed to Brian Bowers ranting about the state of the SFWL right now one thought kept playing through my mind. Brian, as I heard how you blamed yourself for the state of the SFWL and yeah, that program with a man who could only get himself over by kidnapping other managers notwithstanding, I AGREE with you wholeheartedly, the blame isn't all yours. Brian, I want you to take a good look to that man who is standing right beside you, that fat piece of. TRASH, Wayne Reid was the man ultimately responsible for the near death of the Extreme Division which I had resuscitated in the nick of time! [boos] Oh yeah, just as I was grooming Team Japan to be tag team AND singles champions, JUST when we were getting to the PINNACLE of success in the SFWL. Wayne Reid, ina fit of jealously, sold me out for a case of cheap beer and got TEAM JAPAN released from their contracts, SOLELY because WE were the one group of comedy wrestlers getting MORE of a reaction than the so called Mr. Extreme and his ~GUT OF DOOM~! Only when we were out of the way did you have your greatest success in the Extreme Division. But as usual, once things got to be a little too much for Wayne Reid, he disappeared and let the division gocompletely to HELL! Well Reid, I'm not the challenger, I AM THE MAN! And Wayne, ha ha ha, as always, if you want to be the man you have to BEAT THE MAN! So get your ass down to this ring, RIGHT NOW, and let's see if the fat man can not only sing, but CAN HE DANCE! Johnny Cash’s cover of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” begins playing over the PA. Wayne Reid steps out onto the entrance ramp, dressed in grey sweatpants, work boots, and an alternate version of the Shin Jun Rui t-shirt, with the lettering in electric blue, superimposed of a shot of Reid in mid-flight, executing a moonsault from the balcony. BK: Reid!? He’s still alive?! TZ: And apparently, he’s still running with Bowers! He’s got a Shin Jun Rui shirt on! Wayne Reid: You want hardcore, Schitt? Well, you called out JUST the right man for the job! I’m the innovator and originator of hardcore wrestling in this federation, and I’m damn well ready to deal out a hardcore SCHITT-KICKING! Oh, and since you’re SO Extreme, I’m sure you won’t mind if I make this a Falls Count Anywhere match! The arena lights turn out for a few seconds. The crowd begins to boo. A spotlight appears on the stage to show Ash standing with his arms folded. Ash is wearing a red “Outcasts” t-shirt with black warmup pants, black elbow pads and black tape wrapped around his hands. His hair is in cornrows and he wears a black and red bandanna tied around his head. He looks over the crowd then starts walking to the ring with the spotlight following him. He slides in under the bottom rope and stands on the second turnbuckle. Ash raises a fist into the air only to receive more boos from the fans. Ash climbs down and gets a mic from the ring announcer. Ash: I went into Hell for the Holidays sure of victory…I came out on the losing end. For the last week I sat there thinking over what to do next, should I just forget about the cruiserweight title, go on to bigger things…should I get a rematch with Rich…to be perfectly honest I haven’t fully decided yet. What I will say is this, Rich, you beat me fair, and clean. I’m not making excuses, you won, bravo. Although I don’t see your win as making you being better than myself, I didn’t perform the way I should have…I didn’t think things through when I made the match…But that is all behind us now, the face of the SFWL is changing, and I want you to know, that, I will get what belongs to me. (Ash looks out into the crowd for a few seconds) Ash: Tonight though, I have a shot at the Intercontinental title, once again I’m going one on one with Kent McKnight…am I upset that you said your going to overlook me on this one? Not at all Kent, I wasn’t expecting this title match, and to be honest, I don’t give a shit about this match. I mean, as always I do plan on winning the IC title here tonight, but… “Judith” by a Perfect Circle begins to play. Overdose with Extacy on his arm walks out. Overdose is wearing a black “Time for a Lethal Injection” t-shirt and a pair of khakis, he has cut his hair short and had blonde highlights placed in it. Extacy is wearing a white playboy bunny t-shirt with black spandex pants. Overdose and Extacy walk to the ring, Extacy stays on the outside while Overdose slides in under the bottom rope. Ash has a somewhat surprised look on his face Ash: What are you doing here? (Overdose takes the mic from Ash) Overdose: You know Ash, when you decided that you were going to sit around on your ass after losing to Rich, did you notice that not once did I appear on camera to speak? (Ash folds his arms and looks at Overdose as to say what’s your point) OD: Sure, I got one little match, but since you weren’t talking, or making appearances, Overdose wasn’t talking. What little mic time I had before completely disappeared. I had some momentum going by beating Rob Justice at Hell for the Holidays, and because of you not talking…it’s basically all but gone. (Ash takes the mic back from Overdose) Ash: What is this about? I was talking. OD: No one was listening Ash, the fans’ snoring was even louder than they’re booing. (Fans cheer, Ash clearly has a pissed look on his face) OD: Why don’t you tell these people the truth Ash, you were humiliated when Rich beat you, you wanted to never show your face in the SFWL again, especially after Rich beat you so easily. (The fans pop again, Ash looks out to the crowd and gets a half smirk on his face) OD: What did you do Ash? You hid yourself inside your house for over a week, you almost quit the SFWL right then and there. And while you were up in your house sulking, I was back in Virginia wondering why the fuck am I playing second fiddle to this sorry chump. Why am I being looked at Ash’s bitch…when Ash is nothing more than a damn crybaby. (Ash jerks the mic out of Overdose’s hand) Ash: I would recommend that you watch what your saying, you will end up regretting it. (OD jerks the mic back) OD: Regret what? You can’t do anything to me. No more second fiddle Ash…I’m leaving you in my dust. I think I’ll do what I should have been trying to do for the last three months, and that’s win the cruiserweight title. Instead of sitting back and watching you, I’m going to take what you want, and do what you CAN’T do…and that’s beat Rich T. Boy, cleanly. You can’t do it, the only way you could beat Rich is to have someone run in…and with out me by your side Ash…who do you have? No one, I WAS all you had, now your on your own. Let’s see how good you do by yourself, it’s back to opening every card and getting beat by every one for you. (Ash takes the mic back) Ash: I see you’ve decided to grow up…or should I say try to grow up. You want to go off on your own, that’s fine with me. I never needed you to begin with, like every other partner that I have tried to have, you dragged me down. Why I allow myself to be teamed with such useless pieces of shit I don’t know, but I do know that you won’t last a month on your own, and the only way you will win the cruiserweight title is if I fall over right now and die. (OD takes the mic) Overdose: You might not die right now…but you will fall… Overdose kicks Ash in the stomach Overdose hits Ash with the Lethal Injection The fans go nuts Overdose raises his arms into the air “Judith” by a Perfect Circle begins playing. Overdose leaves the ring and starts walking to the back. He turns around and starts to backpedal up the ramp.
