Marinelli was in mellow form, and according to Ray Brown in The Chronicle, Although he was so deliberate in the delivery of Che gelida manina as to lag a bit behind the orchestra at times, it was a deliberateness that served to accentuate the ease with which he sustained notes and linked them in unbroken sequence../ pg 12 - 1922-1978 SFO-Bloofield
October 12, Adler put on a waiters jacket and suddenly appeared on stage during Act 2, and with back to the audience, poured real Champagne for the Bohemians. It was the tenors birthday./ 1922-1978 SFO-Bloofield
Bjoerlings debut occurred in Bohemehe liked to get on stage before the Act 2 curtain so he could put some real beer in his Caf Momus mug. He was also partial to raw eggs consumed in sherry!/ pg 81- 1922-1978 SFO-Bloofield

Piotr Beczala
She(Angela Gheorghiu)  was matched in every way by her Rodolfo, tenor Piotr Beczala. His is also a commanding talent, his voice easily riding Puccinis great crests of sound yet delicately spinning out every nuance that follows. He was especially persuasive in attracting Mim (Che gelida manina), describing his penniless poetic dreams (e per castelli in aria) and romantic hope (la speranza!). Beczalas rendition was so fresh, so fervent, that it seemed as if this all-too-familiar music had never been heard before. He too developed his character over time, his early ardor later wrenched by the guilt that he may be contributing to Mims illness with La mia stanza una tana squallida (my room is a squalid den), his voice darkened by despair./ SFCV
