Death Valley; Arizona: The atmosphere of Death Valley, host of Chili Bowl 1 was surprisingly family friendly. I have to say for a group of fans more likely to steal your wallet; that was the best Water balloon fight ever! For this monuments event the Bud light 40s sponsored Beer Naked Ladies Night. Any hot chicks wearing no clothes got in for free. The Half time show reeked of awesomeness as the Offspring, who won out a bid against the naked brothers band (thanks to a suggestion from Mike Jackson) would perform. As the Band rocked fans would be treated to the Mike Vick west minister dog fighting half time show. The singing of the National Anthem by Peyton and Eli brought tears to my eyes.

The league leading backs from both divisions battled there way to a 14-14. Nearing the end of the half the 40s managed a stop and drove the ball down the field to end the half at 17-14 thanks to a field goal. The Offspring rocked in their senior age as Benji the wonder dog defeated Lassie and Rin Tin Tin in a triple threat match. A major surprise was Cadavers star Back Colby acting as owner of Benji. I meet Mike while I was in jail the last time. We talked rushing and he came up with this idea, a week later this major half-time show was signed and ready to go

The 2nd half started back where it left off as Colby continued his assault on the 40s defense (already over 140yds). Like a freshly risen corpse from the grave the cadavers lurched to life on the pass thanks to back-up QB Daley. Just as it seemed the Cadavers would take a 2 touchdown lead thanks to a fumble lost by 40s Cadavers WR Ebony left in the 3rd, injured with a sprained ankle following a touchdown. This left the game to an already exhausted Dennis Colby to handle an even more excessive load; of course Colby had no complaints.

With the 4th qtr starting and such a close game it seemed as if the 40s could pull out a win following another rushing TD by Silvio Brunner. As the Death Valley fans began to give up WR N. Hughes brought down a 25yd TD pass putting the cadavers in reach of a victory. With less than two minutes to go the Cadavers drove the ball downfield putting the #1 passing back in a perfect situation. What looked like a wide rush ended with QB Daley pulling down a TD pass from Colby to put the cadavers 38-31. The 40s rallied back with a quick drive down the field that ended with a fumble by Brunner recovered by the Cadavers locking their victory.

Both coaches met midfield and shook hands as Death Valley fans and residents stormed the field lifting various team members on their shoulders. Balloons and confetti rained down as MVP of the game Dennis Colby held the trophy high in the air, next to him Jimbo Ebony and Cadavers Owner/GM/Coach Jeff Rye.

This is the greatest thing that could ever happen to me; I never imagined it in a million years. Our team had been hammered with injuries and set-backs that should have stopped us but we fought the good fight. Says key cadavers player Jimbo Ebony. Ive done my best all year and when (Pepe) Haskett (QB) went down I thought we where done. Instead Daley stepped in and shinned like none have before.

Im just amazed Followed up Daley, This is the greatest Moment in my life. As a matter of a fact I think Ill finish my SFL career on a good note and retire. Said back up QB Daley to a shocked crowd. Following this announcement MVP of the game Dennis Colby stepped up to the mic. Surprisingly Colby was extremely reserved for such a big win.

What can I say? Choked out Colby between tears. Its been a long season with its ups and downs and we did it. I know sometimes I come off as an ass that doesnt care about his team. But damn it I couldnt have done it without these guys. Id just like to thank my mom, god, and the Natives for running the option pass over 50 times. When asked whats to come next year Colby responded with a simple, Repeat and 2,000 rushing yards.
