1.0 SFFL
The SFFL was established in May 2003 by Alex Salter
1.1. SFFL Structure
The SFFL consists of 2 Nations each with 24 teams split into
3 divisions of 8. Each team has
at least one ACTIVE manager to operate it. No person can manage 2 teams
except in extreme circumstances where the SFFL Board's approval has been
given, and the entire league notified (note this situation often only
occurs when a manager is acting as caretaker for another manager for a
short period of time)
1.1.1. Applying for a Position as Manager
Current managers have the opportunity to apply for vacant jobs with other
teams when the SFFL Board notifies the league they are open for
applications. The manager who wins the position is chosen based their
previous managing records (not necessarily the win/loss ratio, but also
the general league participation, and reliability).
New managers are appointed to teams without managers
from the Waiting List. For a person who wishes to join the SFFL to enter
the Waiting List, they must fill out an application form from the joining
page on the website. It
should be noted that positions do not arise often, and therefore a lengthy
waiting period may occur. When a position becomes available for a New
manager, several candidates from the Waiting List are chosen, primarily
based on the length of time they have been on the list. After the
candidates have been asked if they are still interested, the SFFL Board
will decide which candidate shall take the job.
1.2. SFFL Board
The SFFL Board controls the operation of the SFFL. The main members make
the majority of decisions in the league, however, often these decisions
come after consultation with all involved parties.
1.3. Fines
The SFFL Board reserves the right to fine teams when they believe a team
has acted outside of the rules directly or indirectly, or outside the
spirit of the game by using in-appropriate conduct.
1.4. Appeals & Protests
If a manager believes the SFFL Board has treated them unfairly, they may
appeal any decisions made. The appeal is made to the Board itself. If the
Board does not accept the appeal, the rest of the league shall be asked to
form an opinion. Note, if the appeal ends up unsuccessful, there remains a
possibility heavier penalty may be incurred.
Furthermore, if a manager believes another manager has
acted inappropriately then they must appeal to the SFFL Board. The SFFL
Board will only act when it receives a complaint or appeal from another
manager.
2. Competitions
2.1. League Competition
The SFFL is divided to 2 divisions, containing 8 teams. During the season,
each team play each other team twice, therefore there are 14 rounds in a
single season.
2.1.1. Relegation and Promotion
At the end of the season, the teams who finish 8th are
automatically relegated. The team who finish 1st are
automatically promoted. Then 7th place will play a playoff against 2nd
place in the league below
2.2.1. Cup Games
The Cup is a standard knockout cup with each round played over 1 leg.
Cup games are generally played on a Wednesday, and do not interrupt League
games.
2.3. Friendlies
Teams can only play friendlies during the off-season. If you wish to play
a friendly, organize it with another manager and advise the league
commissioner at least one week in advance. The statistics from friendlies
don't count for league games. Therefore, if a player is suspended or
booked in a friendly game, it does not affect his DP level. Players who
are suspended in a league or cup game, still cannot play in friendlies.
Injuries also carry over between friendlies and other games, as do ability
points gained.
2.4 MVF Shield
This is a matched played between the winners of the English Premier league and the
English
cup. If this is the same club the runner up in the league will take
up the second place.
2.5. Other Competitions
At certain times the SFFL Board may introduce other competitions.
3. Adding to the game
3. Newsletters, Press Releases, Team Websites and
"Soccer News"
One highly enjoyable part of the SFFL is when managers write their own
team Newsletters and/or Press Releases. This is a fun part of the SFFL but
not all managers have to do this. At present, many managers write their
team newsletters and press releases and post them on the forum. These
can contain almost anything like an interview with players and managers,
transfer listing of players, and player transfers, any match analysis and
just about anything happening at their club.
4. End-Of-Season Awards
4.1 MANAGER OF THE MONTH
At the end of each month, the SFFL has a manager of the month award. This
award is based upon voting by other managers.
Premiership = £500,000
Division 1 = £400,000
Division 2 = £300,00
4.1 MANAGER OF THE YEAR
At the end of each year, the SFFL has a manager of the year award. This
award is based upon voting by other managers. Each manager of the month
gets put up for the final vote and the manager who gets the most votes
wins. The winning manager will get 1 million for their club.
