As
an economist, I have a strong interest in applied competition policy.
Previously, I have worked both at the Antitrust Division of the US DOJ and DG
Competition in the European Commission prior to taking up responsibilities
for the competition and regulation work program at the OECD. My research
has focused in the areas of telecommunications, media and health care and this focus has broadened at
the OECD. My interests are not
restricted to antitrust but are broadly micro-economic in nature.
Current interests include incentives for interconnection and
compatibility, the e-commerce investment bubble, and the potential impact of
physician and hospital networks on medical care costs. Generally speaking,
my research centers around applied empirical work, with an occasional foray into
theory. Recent Research: Interconnection of Networks (2002) Competition and Price Dispersion in International Long Distance Calling (2001)
